Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Beverly Kobrin
When illustrating reports, have youngsters draw Medieval facts or fantasies by hand, rather than resort to illustrations via photocopy or computer printout. Damon J. Reinagle's step-by-step instructions simply and clearly demonstrate how anyone can turn basic shapes into castles, heroes, villains, and dragons in action-packed scenes.
School Library Journal
Gr 4-6-Reinagle shows, step by step, how to draw various medieval subjects, including unicorns, dragons, castles, and warriors. As in Lee J. Ames's "Draw 50..." books (Doubleday), the entire process is shown-each drawing takes the shape of the desired object line by line. The author includes written instructions to accompany each step. Both the black-and-white illustrations and text are clear and concise. The pictures are a bit more detailed than those in Ames's books, so Reinagle's title may attract an older audience. Some basic techniques, such as the need for texture and shading, are presented, as are helpful hints for beginners. The need to practice is stressed in an encouraging manner, thus encouraging would-be artists. A solid addition.Melissa Hudak, North Suburban District Library, Roscoe, IL

    A 10 year old's review

I got this book for Christmas and it teaches drawing to beginners. I consider myself quite a bit more than a beginner, so I didn't use the instructional part, but I have drawn several of the finished products my own way and have added more details. This book would be very good for someone needing more instruction.

    Good for begginers

I bought this for my brother because he likes to draw and it was a good book for those just beginning. It has the basic essentials for the drawings that made it easy to follow.
