Overview

Even if Charlotte Church's debut album hadn't been titled Voice of an Angel, the radiant purity of her voice would inevitably have brought to mind the image of a sweetly beaming young cherub. Given the enormous success of that recording, it was just as inevitable that the teenaged diva would soon lend her soprano to an album of Christmas songs and carols. What wasn't inevitable, though, is just how good this effort is. Dream a Dream presents a joyful range of holiday music, all dressed up in festive arrangements. Church sings with charming exuberance on "Ding Dong Merrily on High," glowing conviction on sacred numbers such as "O Come All Ye Faithful" and "O Holy Night," and true childish glee on "Winter Wonderland." The touching Welsh carol "Draw Tua Bethlehem" is a special treat, as is the lovely "Gabriel's Message," accompanied only by harp. In addition to these yuletide favorites, Church offers the title track as a special gift -- an anthemic, glittering blend of classical and pop, based on Fauré's haunting Pavane, "Dream a Dream" also features the voice of 12-year-old country sensation Billy Gilman. Dream a Dream is Church's best album yet, and an instant Christmas classic.

We can only hope for a new release of Phantom, with Church as Christina and Brightman as the aging diva.. Just get Bocelli to do the Phantom, man that would be the greatest production ever..

I can't belive a person gave this a one star! If you like pop music, you can't honestly grade it. Charlotte gives a certain magic to your regular holiday music that no one else can give!

This makes really nice backgroud music, it makes a nice environment. The songs on here are like the ones she sang on PBS- I didn't see all the songs, but there were a few, but they sound just as great- if not better. In the cd, she's got the lyrics, just in case.

I just got this cd for my birthday and I really enjoy it. This cd really gets me in the holiday mood, even if it's not Christmas yet!

Seldom has someone so young reached the level of virtuousity that young Charlotte displays in this collection of Christmas carols, old and new. Charlotte wraps this music in such an aura that you imagine her as one of the angels God chose to sing the first Christmas Cantata. Bravo! What will she give us when she grows up?

This is great! This has got to be one of her best albums! Every time I buy one of her CDs,I think, "This one's better than the last!" "Dream a Dream" with Billy Gilman is my favorite song, as well as "What Child is This", and "Ave Maria". Please get this album;you will not be disappointed!

After I saw her on TV the other night for the very first time, I rushed right out and bought the album. I also highly recommend the DVD ¿Charlotte Church in the Holy Land¿, which has a number of the same works but is even better, because you can see her sing. She is overwhelmingly beautiful.

A wonderful collection of Christmas carols. Church's voice is sometimes inspirational, sometimes fun, but always magical.

This is probably Charlotte's best work so far. She has improved so much...I'm having Christmas early!

Only a very jealous child wouldn't love this girl's voice. Or perhaps a very jealous adult. It happens. Bless this girl for sharing her gift.

I totally loved this CD, especially the song of Dream a Dream that Charlotte sang with Billy Gilman. The songs are very soothing and easy to listen to. Personally, I've never like opera music of any kind, but I do love this CD.

I love this album so much that I literally tore my house up recently to listen to it in July!!! I play this all year round, esp to hear What Child is This, Mary's Boy Child, & O Holy Night. A Must for every christmas.

Charlotte Church has brought the magic of the Christmas season to everyone with this beautiful album. She includes both contemporary and traditional Christmas songs, and even includes a Welsh Christmas song too. Her voice is fantastic! You won't be disappointed if you buy this album. I listen to it every day and never tire of hearing her voice.

She has such a smooth voice for someone sooo young! She really brings out the holiday spirit!

Charlotte Church truly is a talented singer. She's very clear and strong for her age. I The reason I only give it 4 stars is because of the vocal stress in Hark The Herald Angel's Sing. As for the review above written by most likely a teen saying this album is boring. Some songs are slower but this album has truly put me in A Christmas mood.

Charlotte has a fabulous voice, but it's very thin and trying to sing over the orchestral music needed to make these songs wonderful proved to be a challange for her. She also seemed to sing with no passion in any of her notes. It was a good CD, but I feel that with a voice like hers she should have had a MUCH better CD. Silent Night, where she duets herself, is great however! As is Ding Dong! Merrily on High. Other then that, kind of a let down.
