Overview

Willow Thomas has a bad habit of running away from things that scare her. And most recently, she quit her high school cheerleading squad after a terrifying fall.

With time on her hands, she auditions for a musical production directed by a Broadway choreographer. Just as things are looking up, Willow discovers she will be performing opposite Eli McAvoy, the best friend she abandoned three years before. To make matters worse, the kids in the musical hate her, her singing sucks, and her dog is sick.

Eli has grown up during their years apart and now possesses confidence and good looks, as well as a giant chip on his shoulder. He is in no hurry to play nice with Willow, but their entwined roles in the musical lead to entwined bodies in the backseat of his car.

Just when Willow finally has her life under control, another surprise is delivered in the form of her greatest challenge yet. Will she run or finally stand and face her fears? And will Eli be there to help or turn his back on her for good?

Amazing book!!! I loved the style of writing, enjoyed the plot and the characters, had much fun reading about musical routine. Main characters were really great, even when Eli was too harsh - he knew, when to apologize and back off, and the episode with roses before the premiere was sweet!!! I really liked many of the secondary characters, especially Tyson! I loved everything about this book!!! Highly recommended!!

One word - Amazing. After I read Rock and a Hard Place, which made me cry like a freak (in a good way), this book didn't disappoint me at all. There were points where it was just down right hilarious. Especially with the grape Power Aid, when we meet Tyson's partner scene, and the awkward yet steamy dance scene with Eli and Willow. Those are just some scenes that are LOL funny. You won't regret reading this story, that's for sure!

This book is AMAZING!! I absolutely loved Angie Stanton's book 'Rock and a Hard Place.' When I saw she had a new title out, I bought it the very first day!

Willow is one of the most driven young women I've ever encountered in YA literature. She has deep, amazing, intense passion.

If you love a strong, smart heroine, if you love a great romance, if you love a wonderful, touching family story...this book is for you!

This is the second young adult novel from talented author, Angie Stanton, and once again, Ms. Stanton hits her mark! Pulling us immediately into heroine Willow's story, we feel for this teenager who suffers a horrific fall and loses confidence in her abilities, talent, and soul. But Ms. Stanton takes Willow right back into the action where she must face her fears and learn that running away is never the answer. Add to that a sweet budding romance, and this book has something for everyone.

Meet the Author

Angie Stanton never planned on writing books, she wanted to be a Rockette. However, growing up in a rural setting with her brothers' 4-H pigs as pets, dance didn't work out. Instead she became an avid daydreamer. After years of perfecting stories in her head she began to write them down and the rest is history.

She loves dipping french fries in chocolate shakes, all natural disaster movies and Broadway Musicals. When not writing, Angie is concocting ways to make more dreams come true, whether it be tickets to a Broadway show or convincing her family they should rent an RV and travel the country.

Angie is a proud double finalist of the 2011 National Readers Choice Awards for Love 'em or Leave 'em, as well as a finalist for the Golden Quill Awards.

Look for Angie’s next book in 2012. Another Young Adult romance about Adam Jamieson, the younger brother in Rock and a Hard Place.
