A suspicious death. A ghost in a mirror. The new Dark Legacy novel from the New York Times bestselling author known for crafting stories of burning passion and chilling suspense…

The death of her friend and mentor, Evelyn Ballinger, brings psychic counselor Gwen Frazier back to the small town of Wilby, Oregon, and brings back memories she would rather forget. Two years ago, a killer stalked the members of one of Ballinger’s research studies—including Gwen, who survived while two others didn’t. Now, she’s sure that Ballinger’s death is related.

Sent by a friend to help Gwen, psychic investigator Judson Coppersmith arrives in Wilby barely in control of his own talent and his own life, and haunted by urgent dreams. His attraction to Gwen is primal, but there are secrets he must keep to protect himself from surrendering to her completely, even as their investigation draws them into dreamscapes, into decades of deception and into the paranormal fires of a desire too strong to resist…

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Krentz returns to the world of her sexy psi investigators in a strong sequel to Copper Beach (2012). Judson Coppersmith’s innate psychic gifts allow him to detect resonance from violent events and sense the emotions of a killer’s mind. Gwen Frazier is a dream counselor who reads auras and translates the psychic resonance of violent deaths into visions of ghosts. When Gwen’s mentor is murdered with a paranormal weapon, Gwen turns to the Coppersmiths for help, giving her a chance to explore her compelling lust for Judson. Krentz balances the protagonists’ mutual attraction with their insecurities; Judson, who is fighting nightmares of a traumatic event, fears being viewed as a potential client, and Gwen worries her contagious dreams will ruin this relationship as it has others. The triple twists in the murder case make the plot convoluted and tedious, but a long denouement gives the characters a chance to build a real relationship after the threats of violence are gone. (Jan.)
Library Journal
Psychic counselor Gwen Frazier is drawn back to tiny Wilby, OR, by an email from her mentor, paranormal researcher Dr. Evelyn Ballinger. When Gwen arrives to find Evelyn dead on the office floor, she knows Evelyn didn't die naturally—the ghost in the mirror and her own uncanny ability to sense violent death tell her that much—but proving it is another matter. Suspecting a link between this murder and a series of deaths two years earlier and now a suspect herself, Gwen reaches out to psychic investigator Judson Coppersmith for help and gets love in the bargain. A lethally talented heroine haunted by the past; a powerful, enigmatic hero with issues of his own; and a complex, multifaceted plot that takes fans into a mind-bending dreamscape maze result in another winner from the consistently creative Krentz. VERDICT With walk-off-the-page characters, crackling sexual tension, swift pacing, and the author's trademark sassy humor, this wonderfully inventive high-stakes adventure will whet fans' appetites for more. Krentz (Copper Beach) lives in Seattle.
Kirkus Reviews
When Gwen Frazier returns to Wilby, Ore., to investigate the death of her mentor, she knows she's opening up psychic wounds she'd rather forget, and when her best friend sends in investigator Judson Coppersmith to help, she realizes she's met her match, romantically and psychically. Will their attraction, skills and talent be enough, in time, to solve the mystery and save them both? Psychic Gwen Frazier would just as soon avoid Wilby, Ore., since she was nearly the victim of a serial killer two years ago, when she was participating in a psychic research study. But when the researcher, Gwen's friend and mentor Evelyn Ballinger, winds up dead, and names Gwen as her sole heir, she simply can't stay away. Returning to the town opens Gwen up to even more danger, physically and psychically, and turns the sheriff's suspicious mind to Gwen as the prime suspect. Gwen's friend sends her Judson Coppersmith, of the wealthy Coppersmith family, a renowned investigator who has some strong psychic talent himself, as well as a wildfire physical attraction. Judson might as well be the cavalry as far as Gwen is concerned, with his security and weapons skills, plus his psychic intuition toward violent crime. He's just what she needs to solve the crime and stay alive. As bodies start piling up in Wilby, it becomes clear that Gwen is once again a target. Judson and Gwen must race to find a link between the past and the present to solve the mystery and catch the killer determined to take Gwen's life. And as the two work toward answers, they'll realize just how good they are together--in oh-so-many ways. This is the second novel in the Dark Legacy series from Krentz. The master storyteller once again creates authentic, well-drawn characters, a quick-paced, engrossing plot set against a backdrop of a psychic world imprinted effortlessly on our own and a relatable romance one can't help but root for. Romantic suspense with a psychic twist--or, a little bit of everything, all wrapped up in wonderful.

Great mystery, romance and a smidge of paranormal.

In Dream Eyes, Gwen Frazier, school buddy and sister from another mother of Abby Radwell from Copper Beach (Dark Legacy #1), is in a bit of a bind.  She’s found her friend and mentor dead in the small town of Wilby, Oregon and she believes it may have been murder.  Gwen asks Abby for help of the psychic nature to find the truth.  Help is sent in the form of psychic investigator Judson Coppersmith.  Judson is recovering from a psychic trauma but figures this will be a quick look-see and done.  He doesn’t count on his attraction to Gwen and the mystery surrounding her and the town.

This is classic JAK Gwen & Judson have great chemistry and the mystery kept me guessing till the end.I know some folks don’t get it but I ADORE Jayne Ann Krentz novels.

Well. This book is almost a copy of the first in the series &quo

Well. This book is almost a copy of the first in the series "Copper Beach" and I do like this one better than the first, maybe the characters? I love that there is an animal in each book so far, and in this one a cat and I want to know what kind of critter will be in book number 3...(hehehe) the plot line? I like it better than the first book. I like Judson better than Sam. I think the author has got a formula that she likes, 1/4 of the way in there is sex, then 1/2 way and then 3/4 of the way in more sex... and not to much or to graphic, I hate gratuitous sex! This was a good quick and fun read. I have read a book by Amanda Quick before, not knowing it was Jane and it would not matter as I enjoyed it as well. I know what I like to read, When you want escapism... she is the author for you. this is a "just barely" ... 4 stars

    Must read Cooper beach agin

I really enjoyed the book, but I should have reread Cooper Beach before I read this book, I seemed to forget a lot about a book if the next one comes out a lot later.
I'm not going to get in to the story and give things away, buy you will thank me later for that. The chatter in this book are great together and the has no lag time so there is always things to be done, and people too see. I really enjoy JAK books, but I cant wait to read the new Jayne Castle when it comes out.
    This a great read.

I thought it was a great read.

Dream Eyes takes it's readers into one of the worlds of Jayne Ann Krentz. She is a favorite author of mine. You join Gwen and Judson as they get to know each other and solve a crime. It don't get much better than that in my book. Found myself flipping pages faster and faster. I thought it was a great read.

A Fun and Satisfying Paranormal Romance

Jayne Ann Krentz is my all-time favorite author and reading a book from her is always a treat. That said, I must admit to the fact that her Dark Legacy series is not turning out to be one of my favorites. Whether it is the forgone conclusion of the couples or the heavy-handed attempts to tie into her Arcane series—without actually being a part of it to benefit from the past history—I just have not be as engaged this time around. Dream Eyes was a fun story and the dynamics between the main characters, Judson and Gwen, were explosive in the best of ways as they unraveled the mystery in this book. The mystery itself however left me feeling a bit disengaged. Some of this disconnect may have resulted from the fact that a good portion of the events happened in retrospect but a lot of it came from the fact that I didn’t really get a solid picture of anything in this book, which surprised me in one of Ms. Krentz’s works. Some of this story was fabulous. I loved getting to know Nick better—he might turn out to be my favorite character in the whole series—and I liked both main characters. The story as a whole however, failed to inspire a suspension of disbelief or any real connection. It felt more like a vehicle for set-up and tie-in than a story of its own. I, sadly, am only able to give it three stars.

    Review From My Urban Fantasies

Originally published on my blog, My Urban Fantasies.
    (myurbanfantasies.blogspot)

Dream Eyes is the second book in the Dark Legacy series. The way Krentz has set up this series, Dream Eyes can be read as a stand-alone book. The first book, Copper Beach, is Sam and Abby's story. Dream Eyes is Gwen and Judson's story. Characters from Copper Beach are in Dream Eyes, but only in a minor capacity. I would definitely read Copper Beach first if you want a little more history on the Coppersmith family, Abby and Nick. Knowing their history is not necessarily important, but may make it a little less confusing when they are introduced. Copper Beach will also explain more about the Phoenix stones, again they are not that important in this storyline.

Gwendolyn Frazier, Abby's friend and soul sister, receives an email from her mentor Evelyn Ballinger. When Gwen can not reach Evelyn by phone, she goes to Evelyn's house in small town Wilby, Oregon. Gwen finds her dear friend Evelyn dead in Evelyn's office. To the untrained eye it appears that Evelyn has died of natural causes. Gwen thinks that Evelyn was killed by paranormal means. She also believes that Evelyn's murder is connected to the two murders that happened in Wilby two years ago. Gwen needs a second opinion on Evelyn's death and, if she's correct, someone to help her find out why Evelyn had been murdered. Gwen needs a psychic investigator, which leads directly to the Coppersmith family.

Judson Coppersmith, Sam's brother, is a psychic investigator, half of Coppersmith Consulting. Judson is on the Oregon coast recovering from the aftermath of his last assignment. Judson made it out of the incident alive, but his mind is stuck in a dark place. Judson receives a phone call from Sam asking him to help Gwen. Judson decides that Gwen may be the perfect distraction, a way to escape his recurring nightmares.

My favorite character would have to be Nick Sawyer. Nick plays a small but important part in Dream Eyes. I don't know exactly what it is about him that draws you in. He's funny, loyal and has this mysterious quality that insists you learn more about him. Dream Eyes is the perfect combination of mystery and romance with a little paranormal thrown in just for fun. It really was a fantastic read.

I wish Ms. Krentz would get off the freaky stuff and go back to romance. she doesn't do it well. Not the romance, I love her plain romance books. I used to buy her books with out even reading the back cover, then I bought one about some mind-reader or something. It is not that I don't enjoy that type of book. I do. Ms. Krentz talents lie in a different area. "sigh" I really miss reading her books.

The next novel to be featured is Jayne Ann Krentz¿s novel Dream

The next novel to be featured is Jayne Ann Krentz’s novel Dream Eyes. If you like romance with a little mystery with paranormal element thrown in, then this is the novel for you! This is the second novel in the Dark Legacy series.
    Synopsis:
Gwen Frazier is Psychic Counselor who helps people through their dreamscapes. But can anyone help Gwen when she discovers yet another dead body? Enter Judson Coppersmith a Psychic Investigator sent by his soon to be sister in law Abby to help her sister Gwen. Will they be able to put the clues together about the present murders? And maybe shed a little light on ones from the past? While Gwen and Judson work on their investigation issues from his past creep up as well.
    My Thoughts:
I am not usually a fan of novels with a paranormal element. I read this book out of turn in the Dark Legacy series. I think that readers can still enjoy this novel if you haven’t read Copper Beach the first title in the series. I had one question pertaining to some of the events mentioned in this story. Gwen has some flashbacks to events that took place earlier maybe in either Copper Beach or another previous novel? It did not keep me from continuing in the novel.
The characters in this novel are well developed. The one key to great characters is showing growth throughout the novel. I think we can check this one off as complete. Gwen and Judson are complicated characters that you will get to know well as you read. The plot for this novel created other complicate characters that helps add to the dimension of the story.
I could not wait to find out the answers! I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did! by Jencey Gortney/Writer's Corner
