This book is advertised as being over 200 pages when in fact is only 140. Story line was good but left you wanting more. Last part of book was all previews. In my opinion this was a waste of money/disappointment.

Dream Lover by Adrienne Staff eISBN-978-0-307-79911-1 Carol Lawson dreams she is on a mountain mesa. She sees a man running unclothed toward a cliff, right as he jumps he transforms into an eagle and fly's into the sky above her. She feels weighted down, she falls and cannot get up. An old Indian chieftain tells her to take everything off including skin and bones but she can't let go. Carol wakes up feeling like it was all so real. She will be leaving Atlanta in the morning to start at her new position as assistant manager at the PalmsResort in Carefree, Arizona. Carol stops in to check her new office out and meets a man who is putting relics into the glass cases. He is mysterious with his dark hair and eyes. She seems intrigued by Cody Briggs and she has not seen the last of him, especially since he works with one of the jeep tour companies they use. When Carol sits out to watch the sunset she sees a man running over a mesa she can see he has no shirt and his hair is flowing behind him, it looks like her dream. Carol and Cody are both harboring secrets that weigh them down. Cody escapes with his Indian rituals and being in the desert. Carol just strives to work harder and make sure she is in control of every part of her life. Cody is not full Indian but he enjoys practicing some of the old rituals. Carol sees the old Indian from her dream but it seems he was not really there. It also seems that at times Cody seems to become an eagle or other animal as she watches him. This does not fit in Carol's perfect per-ordered world and even though it seems everything is pointing to the fact that Cody is her other half to make her whole Carol just won't let go of her past grief and pain. Living in Arizona I enjoy reading books where I know the areas they are talking about. The plants and cacti, balloon rides, Jeep tours, Carefree & Sedona. And the sunsets are truly beautiful over the mountains. Contains sexual situation. Book received through NetGalley for review

My first venture to Romance Westerns! Adrienne Staff's writing is easy to read and brings imagination out and creates beautiful landscapes of Arizona, even to a woman who hasn't seen a desert in her whole life. Carol comes across guarded as hell, determined to not let even one thing slip, all she wants is work, and her own room where she can nurse her broken self... Not what you'd expect from a leading lady, which is why Cody becomes the driving force of the story. Cody might be rugged and rough around the edges these days, with every right, which makes him interesting to figure out, where Carol seems to whine and freak out quite a lot. Perhaps it's just me, but I like my leading ladies strong, even if they do have weaknesses, even if they are bit broken. The story on its own is fairly interesting, Carol puts on the brakes at every turn, where Cody couldn't care less about traffic violations, which is interesting, though at time frustrating, chemistry. Cody is determined they have a future together if she would just let go off her grief and anger and her control issues, Carol sees it differently and fights to tooth and nail that nothing is going between them. Dream lover opens on Carol dreaming of a man running on a mesa than an old man says, "To Fly with the eagle is to reach for the stars" Then he reaches a hand out to push her off the cliff. Carol has this dream in Atlanta right before she moves out to southwest to be a assintant new manager of a hotel. The first night thier she sees a display that draws her attention when she is told not to touch it. Dr. Cody Briggs startles her.and goes back to setting up the display. Dr. Cody Briggs has had a hard year. He feels he has lost everything he cared about. People he trusted betrayed him. he was fired from his job that he loved for not being a team player. So now he is giving jeep tours out in the deseret working with the hotel. As Carol learns the new hotel she staffs the concierge desk while the regular one is on vacation. She is getting rave reviews about Cody jeep tours. how he does chants, holds bugs and she wonders if it is safe for thier visitors and wont use him till she finds out what is so different about his tours. Cody really wants to keep giving tours because he can teach them about the deseret he loves. That way he doesent miss teaching so much. Cody is attracted to Carol but feels she has had worst time than he has. Carol keeps dreaming and seeing Cody in dream and she wants to stay alone. She has a hard time sleeping at nights. Cody sees a vision in campfire of Carol and at a sweat lodge is has another vision of her. That same time their is a sing for sick baby and Carol wants to help so she is staying outside and praying for the baby. An old Indian who is late to the sing stops and talks to her. Tells her to forgive herself and after the sing to ask for a eagle prayer feather. But he was not really thier. Carol wants to be left alone but Cody fell in love with her and wants to help her and be with her and share her trails. It is a nice romance but not a great one. easy fast read. After the story thier are a bunch of excerpts from other loveswepts that are comming out again this month. I was given this ebook in exchange for honest review.

I enjoyed this mystical romance set in the desert Southwest. Two wounded souls, Carold Lawson and Cody Briggs come together in a clash of wills and instant attraction that neither one wants or needs in their life. Carol Lawson who has just started work at the Ocotillo hotel as the new assistant manager of guest relations. A position she has worked hard to obtain. She hopes the change of scene will help her forget the hardest decision she ever had to make. A decision that has haunted her life. Cody Briggs, whose looks proclaim he could be an Indian warrior, but was instead a part time tour guide and expert on Indian artifacts. But Cody has his own hidden wounds and isn't just a part time tour guide. Could two very different people find common ground or is physical attraction all they share? Both with deeply guarded secrets that only trust and true love can conquer, the road they travel is anything but smooth but so very worth the read!
