He attempts to shed his sorrow by rejoining the social community. His thoughts and emotions keep turning to the dream lover. At the time, their paths had crossed when he lived in Tennessee. He sought to avoid involvement with her despite her obvious crush on him. It is years later when his thoughts, dreams and actions turn back to her.
