Overview

Princess Diana was a role model, a style icon, and one of the most beloved members of the royal family. In 1981, she wed Prince Charles in what turned out to be a fairy tale wedding that is still remembered today.

After 25 years in a city vault, designers David and Elizabeth Emanuel open the four locked trunks which reveal the story behind their creation of Princess Diana’s wedding dress.

The contents of the trunks paint an astonishingly personal and intimate portrait of the incredible painstaking preparation and rehearsal for one of history’s most famous wedding dresses.

The treasures range from original sketches and fabric swatches, to a spare silk umbrella and shoes, and even the handbag Elizabeth Emanuel carried with her on the special day containing smelling salts and glucose tablets. Unseen photographs of the preparations and rehearsals chart the build up to the big day.

The book contains over 200 images including the Emanuels’ pictures of the bridesmaids arriving for fittings at the studio, facsimiles of letters of commission from the palace, letters of congratulations, a handwritten message from Diana, and amazing memories leading up to the day itself.

    A reviewer

This was a great book with many photos and information about this little-known part of the Royal Wedding event. The 'inside' details of the partnership between the Princess and the designers, the teamwork, the 'in & out' of the selection and design process, and just the details of the gown, wedding party apparel, and other was very interesting. Highly recommend for Diana fans!
