    A reviewer

This was the first of O'Connell's books I have read and I am hooked! She's a fabulous writer, from the first page to the last. I loved her character Lauren who is an optimist when it comes to love. That's so me! I read this book in just one day....I couldn't put it down. O'Connell left me wanting more!

    Became obsessed with baking!

I am one to never finish a book. This is the first book I was able to finish in probably almost 17 years ' only read what was demanded in school ' and absolutly loved it! I love trying to picture the characters with real actors/actresses. I kept coming up with cameron Diaz for Lauren Gallagher. But what was really great about this book was that it helped me find a new interest...baking cakes! It is a great book if you just want to read something that just let's you have time to yourself and not get analytical about it. reading should be fun, not boring, and this one finally helped me see that!

    so much fun!

This book was just what I needed, a really fun read over the holidays. Each character was engaging in her own way and the writing was fast paced and kept me turning the pages. Not to mention all the cakes, which are written in mouth-watering detail and made me want to take a trip to my local bakery.

    Soooo bored...

I bought this book after reading some great reviews, then finding it in the store and reading the first couple of pages. I thought I would truly enjoy it. It seemed to have a fun little plot. I'm on chapter three right now and thanking my lucky stars that the book was on sale. I hate the way the book is written, it doesn't flow at all. Everytime I read it I find my mind wandering off and daydreaming. Which is saying a lot for me because I'm an avid reader! But the characters in the book have no stability and I just can't get into it. I'm selling it to a used book store as soon as possible. Please don't waste your money, even if it is on sale.

    Loved It

I LOVED this book! Right away I was drawn into Lauren's world of cakes, weddings and disasterous predictions. The characters were great, the story non-stop and I wish it wouldn't have ended so soon!

    Fun, Funny, and Smart

This book was a blast - the characters are just quirky enough to be entertaining and unpredictable, but they're also relatable and likeable. There was a lot going on in the story, which, unlike lots of other chick lit out there, didn't completely revolve around finding a boyfriend. I'd highly recommend this book to any looking for a quick read, fun storyline and a few life lessons along the way.

    Dress Rehearsal

This is a fun new chick lit that anyone who likes a humorous, fast-paced story and engaging characters will enjoy. Can Lauren's cake theory really predict a happy ending for a couple? Will her attempt to save her best friend from the wrong man end up blowing up in her face? Do Lauren and her friends learn that life isn't a Dress Rehearsal? Read and find out. I raced through this book and enjoyed every minute.

    Dress Rehearsal

I just loved this book. It's fast paced, funny, and most of all, I liked the friendship between the three main women. I read the author's first book and liked that too, but I enjoyed this story more. Although there are funny scenes, this isn't just a silly wedding book, where we wait for the happily ever after. Watching Lauren and Robin and Paige make mistakes, and figuring out life along the way, was a great way to spend my weekend. And the cake descriptions are amazing. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun read.

    Dress Rehearsal

This book is about an upscale pastry chef in Boston who specializes in wedding cakes, and just also happens to think she can predict the future of a couple by watching them pick out a cake. But while she thinks she has a 'marital magic eight ball', the story isn't just about her prediction abilities, so much as it looks at three friends at different stages in their lives. Lauren is so over weddings and the hoopla that surrounds them, until she realizes that maybe she's been holding out for something without even realizing it. Her divorced friend Robin (who I loved) is a sarcastic, divorced seminar speaker with a big grudge against the male species, and Paige is the hopeful, if realistic, friend about to get married, although wrongfully so if Lauren is correct. There are lots of things happening in the fast-paced story, and the ending is great. I really enjoyed the author's first book, and this book, while different, should be taken for what it is, a good time hanging out with a whacky trio of friends. And the wonderful cake descriptions will have you running for the nearest bakery

    Disjointed

Using the type of wedding cake a couple orders may be a strange way to determine the solidity of their union, but it has worked well enough for Lauren Gallagher to have a flourishing business. She wishes that her accuracy was a bit off though when her radar tells her that her best friend is heading for diseaster, just when she is having some sparks in her own love life. Trying to divide her attention between romance, saving her friend, and running the business during a crisis makes life chaotic. ................................ ................................ Th is chaos and rather disjointed quality makes the brevity of the book a blessing.

    Wonderful!!!!!

I loved this book! It was a fast read that also gave some wonderful life lessons we all can use! O'Connell's fun style of writing reminds me a lot of Sophie Kinsella's books. Don't miss this book!

A sweet tale with a delightful gimmick

Boston magazine declares that Lauren Gallagher, owner of Lauren¿s Luscious Licks, is the new face of wedding cakes. Lauren¿s bakery is a success especially helping brides and grooms select their big event cake. She also believes she knows which coupling will end in divorce based on how and what they select..................... When her fool-proof method shows that her friend is making a mistake marrying Steve, Lauren launches Operation Save Paige. When her former boyfriend Neil arrives with his fiancée Julie she is stunned because he picked Lauren¿s perfect wedding cake. She wonders if she made a mistake not traipsing to DC with Neil. However, she is even more confused because she is also attracted to a lawyer............................. This is a sweet tale with a delightful gimmick that does not contain enough flour for a feature length novel. Though predominantly a one layered cake, the story line is fun to follow as Lauren¿s antics will bewilder and amuse readers as they wonder will she let the cake test choose her life mate and if yes how will she get Julie out of the picture. Of course she also mounts a military campaign to rescue Paige; while her pastry chef walks out filling the rest of Lauren¿s time in the kitchen. DRESS REHEARSAL is fine chick lit tale that is more cupcake than seven layer victory cake in spite of a likable loon of a chef...................................... Harriet Klausner
