Children's Literature - Jean BoreenThis book is part of the "Super Bowl Superstars" series focused primarily on Super Bowl quarterbacks and their championship-winning teams. In this case, the focus is on Drew Brees, the New Orleans Saints, and their come-from-behind victory over Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts during Super Bowl XLIV. The book contains nine chapters that focus, alternately, on Brees as quarterback, the city of New Orleans and the importance of the team to the city after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, and the actual game itself and the plays and players who helped the Saints win. Text boxes throughout the book highlight additional information about other Super Bowls or about Brees and the Saints. Photographs of Brees in action by himself or in various games add a great deal to the text and will certainly encourage less-motivated readers to pick up the book. As with all solid series, this book and its counterparts have a well-developed glossary, bibliography, and "Read More" section. It also includes access to a website about Super Bowls and those who played in them. This text, and the series in general, provides football fans with a quick and interesting look at one of their favorite players playing one of their favorite sports in a book that they should be able to easily read and understand.
