The Inside Track to Getting Better

Having witnessed first hand the teaching methods utilized in this book, the authors hold nothing back. For those who want to take their game to the next level, this is THE book. I absolutely love the layout. often times books show moves in a very static manner, maybe with some different camera angles etc. This one however, takes it to another level. With the individual cut outs stringed together, it's almost like watching a video!

The diet plan looks solid and there are is plethora of solo drills and partner drills. Hence the name "Drill to Win". After attending a seminar with Terere a few years back, the individual whom Galvao gives much credit to, I truly believe this is how they managed to get so great. While you may be doing typical drills in the academy, such as repeating a move over and over again, the drills in this book are designed to enhance reflexes, timing, balance, and at the same time provide the fundamental understanding behind the techniques and positions. I wish I had this book a few years ago, it is by far my favorite!

    I Also Recommend:

The New Standard in BJJ Books.

I cannot believe this book. It has shattered my expectations and they were pretty high to begin with.

In Drill To Win, Galvao and Howell provide an excellent resource for all grapplers, a one year recipe to drastic BJJ improvement. Though it remains to be seen if the book's goal will be met after a year, I must say that the layout and content is amazing. The authors left no stone unturned and this book not only covers nearly every conceivable grappling situation, but it also organizes them into a way that will have you developing into a better grappler. I love it.

When it comes to presentation, the book is the best looking martial arts book I have ever seen. The photos are very crisp and I loved the way they were layered. It made it very easy to understand the movement and see what the movement would look like in motion. For the first time, instead of moving my eyes from frame to frame, I can actually track the movement of the drill.

Lastly, I feel that both Galvao and Howell outdid themselves. Galvao showcases movements that I have always wondered about and it looks like he really showed everything from his playbook. Howell builds on the success of his Jiu-Jitsu University and cements himself as one of grappling's premier writers.

    Elevate your jiu jitsu- TODAY!!

Don't take my post title the wrong way, but this book is awesome. I have been training for almost 4 years while I have had great instructors often times I cannot pull off the moves like they can because... well... they are world champions. This book breaks it down as simple as possible. Some drills I already knew and they have been game changers for me but there are many I haven't even heard of before and I have no doubt they are going to elevate my game (and many others).

This book hands down is going to improve the jiu jitsu landscape as we know it. The information in here will improve everyone that reads it; thus making competition that much better when we meet on the mats.

    I Also Recommend:

I tried to get an advantage but everyone I know bought the book!

I bought this book thinking I would be able to secretly incorporate it into my training and then spring my new found agility and suppleness on my training partners. But my instructor had the same idea. The same week I bought it he introduced the drills into our training regimen. It has definitely helped as the techniques improved my overall game. The drills are never boring and you will find yourself doing things with your body that you didn't think possible. Further, you can pick and choose what you would like to work on even though the book is very detailed and lays out a formula you can follow for an entire year. To be fair it is an instructional so other than the biography up front it doesn't read like a book. Also, I would say that you should have a little bit of BJJ knowledge to get the most out of the book but it is not a must. But if your mission is to become a better grappler and pick up a lot of good tips then this a great book to own.
