The book provides the reader with: a better understanding of drivers’ adaptation processes following information and assistance system use at different levels (regulatory level, cognitive level, motivational level); perspectives to distinguish the short-, medium- and long-term effects of technology use on drivers’ behavior; an appreciation of the impact of age as a driver characteristic on technology use and skill acquisition; and research on the effects of the system’s performance and the level of automation as important system characteristics influencing drivers’ adaptation.
