Recommended by my doctor - it fit the bill

I have been doctoring for two plus years for acid reflux. My doctor has recommended this book to me several time. I was pleased to finally find it in Nook format. The book is written for patients not doctors and provides easy to understand lists of food to eat and those to avoid. The rest of the book is filled with recipes that use the good foods and avoids the ones that could cause the body to have a negative reaction.
If acid reflux is a problem for you, this book can be very helpful.

    Nightmare Rarity chapter 20

Running as fast as they could, the ponies tried to make it through the Everfree Forest without being caught. All was going well until..." Ouch!" Twilight squeled, tripping over a rock."Honestly, Twilight. Be more careful!" Scolded AJ. But, unfortunetely, Queen Chysilis's searching eyes spotted them. Zooming twords them, the Queen commanded her Changelings to follow. Nightmare Rarity howled. At first, it didnt seem to do anything. But, there was a rustling sound and Timberwolves, at least a hundred, were after them too. Finally, they were out of the Everfree forest. Ponyville had just been rebuilt.' Thats a shame.' They thought, for they knew it would be destroyed. The other ponys hid inside their houses, but Apple Jack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Twilight Sparkle, Spike, and even Fluttershy stood their ground." Fools! You think you can defeat us? We are unstoppable! My Changelings are not only here, but chipping away at the Crystal Empires protection spell as we speak. Soon, King Sombra will be with us too!" Crowed Queen Crysilis.

    Strange Things Prologue

"Sadie!" Bree's warning rang through the air. "Don't talk!" Sadie whispered, struggling to keep her balance on the slippery log. She just couldn't fall into the mysterious water below. If she did. . . "Whoa!" Her foot slipped on a clump of slimy moss. "Sadie-" Splash! Sadie fell into the water. She tried to get to the surface, but nothing helped. Bree's hand grasped the back of Sadie's shirt and Bree pulled her up onto the shore. Sadie was too worn out to speak. "Sadie? Sadie! Answer!" Bree's voice was worried. "I'm fine." Sadie sat up. Wait. Her hand felt. . .cold. Clammy. Not warm like it always was. She looked her hand and gasped. She was turning into a monster. Bree took one glance at her and screamed. "It wasn't my fault I had to cross that log to get to you." Sadie's sweet, clear voice now sounded mean and muffled. She suddenly felt a wave of anger and evil wash over her. She jumped up and walked slowly toward Bree, her fists clenched. Bree turned and dissapeared among the bushes. Suddenly, Sadie heard the gentle coo of a dove. A kind creature! Wicked blood flowed through her veins. She spotted the dove and stomped towards it. Then, something strange happened. She no longer felt angry. She was her regular self. But. . .where was everything? Everything was gone!

Look at this in hard copy before purchasing in the Nook version.

Look at this in hard copy before purchasing in the Nook version. Most of the recipes deal with fish or shellfish. If you are allergic to these foods, you are not going to benefit from the one's in the book. Also, a lot of the ingredients are not something easy to find. Very disappointed in the recipes (foo, foo).

Seems to make a lot of sense you owe it to yourself to read it

This book was a quick read, with a lot of very interesting information. I bought three copies, passed one on to a registered dietitian. If you just follow some of the easy to understand tips regarding changes to make in your diet, you should feel better immediately.

    Great Resource

This is the best resource I have found for dealing with my GERD. Following the suggested diet has already brought some relief - I'm looking forward to more improvement in the long term.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who has struggled with reflux. My GI doctor was only able to recommend some marginal nutritional advice and  prescribe medication, but my common sense told me there was more that could be done. The authors have year of experience treating and researching reflux. This book offers much more than recipes and includes easy to understand basics of how this occurs and how to remedy many of the symptoms through diet. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is due to the need for more recipes. Otherwise, I've found this book to be very informative.

    A Good Resource

This book has plenty of good advice on the how's and the why's of the increasingly common problems of reflux. I recommend it both for the information and the dietary information. Some of it was new to me -- some of it was things I know, but this is worthwhile resource for a health concern that can have lasting consequences.
