Blood. All over her hands. And Eva Keller doesn't know how it got there or whose it is. Or how she got to a gas station in downtown Washington, D.C., in the middle of the night with no car. The last 32 hours of her life are a complete blank. And the man she remembers going to meet is missing.
When she arrives home late that night, she finds ruggedly handsome police officer Simon Talbot waiting for her. She has no idea who he is or why she feels such a strong connection to him, but he certainly seems to remember her. Can she trust him?
Fifteen years ago, Eva watched helplessly as her teen-aged boyfriend died in her arms, the victim of a drive-by shooting spree that took the lives of eight people one August evening. That event shaped her life and left her damaged. Now a successful documentary film maker, Eva has only one goal: to prove on film that Luther Isaacs, a petty thief just released from prison, was the killer.
But someone is trying to kill Eva and will stop at nothing to keep her from proving who killed those eight people.
DROWNING IN AIR is a taut romantic thriller, filled with twists and turns. It's a story of strength, survival, determination, love, danger, and, ultimately, redemption.
Judy Fitzwater is the author of the suspense thriller NO SAFE PLACE and THE JENNIFER MARSH MYSTERIES. She's been published by Ballantine Books, a division of Random House, and Silhouette Books.

You will not put it down until you have finished! Eva Keller dripping in blood that is not hers has lost the last 32 hours of her memory. The man she went to meet is missing. What did she do? Who did she do it to? Can she trust Simon Talbot, the hunk that is helping her solve the mystery? Pulse-beating in its suspense, with twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your chair, you will never suspect the ending. Baldacci move over; Fitzwater’s women are taking over the DC thriller scene.
I have read all of Judy Fitzwater's books and Drowning in Air just might be my favorite. I just couldn't put it down. It is an amnesia story full of mystery and suspense and lots of surprises. Judy is wonderful at writing strong characters, even the secondary characters are great and sometimes even steal a scene. She definitely kept me guessing throughout the book. It was such an enjoyable read. I'm hoping there's a sequel.
This book features a strong woman in an intense situation. She is still being shaped by a traumatic event in her past, but she is coping. Now it is all coming back again. Someone is trying to kill her. She reacts with intelligence and determination. It is a pleasure to read about someone who makes herself into the competent individual she needs to be to survive in the most challenging of circumstances. I cannot recommend this book too highly. It is an adventure story, a romance, a thriller -- tense and satisfying. Read it. You won't be sorry.
This could have been a really good story, but...... No character or story development. Written in a very flat style, nothing but facts of the story, no details or enhancement. The opening is pretty good, it kind of grabs you and you'd like to find out what happens. After that, well you'd still like to find out what happens, but you find yourself wondering if you want to put the time into it.
Love it love it love it!! This book is so much fun. There's suspense, romance, intrigue, amnesia, and a twisting mystery... The main character Eva is smart, interesting, and multi-layered. You really sympathize with her and get invested in the mystery. Impossible to put down. I highly recommend this book; it's great for a beach read or an evening on the couch. Get ready to settle in for awhile!!
I loved this book with its strong heroine, exciting suspense, and taut mystery. It keeps you guessing until the last page with surprising but natural twists and turns. It also has a romance with a very appealing and mysterious leading man. A longtime Judy Fitzwater fan, I'm glad to see that she's retained her skill for plotting and well-drawn secondary characters that she shows off in the Jennifer Marsh Mysteries, but has struck out once again into the thriller genre that she so wonderfully explored in No Safe Place. Drowning in Air is a fun read and I would definitely recommend it to my friends.
