Rod Morgenstein is one of the best teachers!

I have had the honor of studying with this drumming legend for a semester. he teaches at the berklee college of music in boston. he is truly a master at demonstating and simplifying grooves, patterns and other exxersices. this book is definetly designed for the beginning student and will have him/ her play along with really cool tracks in no time. also for teachers this book provides a great amount of the right stuff to teach. it is more about what to play than it is a book explaining the technique for hands and feet. Rod is a great person and he is allways trying to help his student when ever he can. he can play any style very well and if you think about playin the drums go for this book! I am very taken by the idea of having a beginner play along music as soon as possible. that is probably why you wanted to start anyways, to play in a band. you will learn the musical way of playing drums not just to bash the hell out of your kit! remember that drummers are also musicians!

    This book rocks

I recently had the privilage of having a new drum student of mine show this book to me. I have tons at home and at the music store where I teach and this book has all the makings of probably the best drum instruction book I've seen to date. Unfortunately, when I asked the owner of the store to order it, two weeks later the order form came back as saying the book was cancelled. That's a real shame, cause, I believe this book would have been a real effective tool for which to teach my students.
