The band is called Bowling for Soup, the album's called Drunk Enough to Dance, and the cover features four guys in ugly power-blue tuxedos pulling funny faces. Gotta be awful, right? Well, not so fast -- no one is going to call Drunk Enough to Dance one of the great records of our time, but these guys do happen to bat at a higher average than the majority of punk-pop acts who've emerged in the wake of Green Day's commercial breakthrough. Jarret Reddick's songs sound tight, sharp, and hooky and, compared to most of his peers, he seems more puzzled than contemptuous of women, which is a welcome switch the post-breakup gloating anthem "Life After Lisa" is a lot snarkier than it needs to be, but it's hard to blame a guy for being happy to not listen to House of Pain anymore. The music doesn't break any new ground, but drummer Gary Wiseman and bassist Erik Chandler push the songs forward nicely, and they have the good sense not to throw too many slow tunes into the mix. Drunk Enough to Dance will change no one's life, but the jokes are sometimes funny, it's significantly less obnoxious than blink-182 or Sum 41, and it has better hooks to boot; give these guys a few years to mature, and they might become the next Too Much Joy.

    A reviewer

This was the first album I had ever heard from Bowling For Soup. I had heard "Girl All The Bad Guys Want" on the movie "The New Guy." It's still my favorite album and song by them. I love their other stuff, a lot, but it just doesn't compare in my eyes. "Life After Lisa", "On And On (About You)", and "Emily" are just great. Cannot be topped by them.

    Great

This is my least favorite of their cds but as you can see it makes no difference. The cd is still great but you might first want to buy a hangover you dont deserve and rock on honorable ones

You'd have to be an idiot not to like this CD!

Bowling for Soup is not at all like your normal band. Their songs show a fresh and funny outlook on things, and the lyrics alone will make you laugh. You'll find yourself singing along in no time.

    Sorry but . . .

Okay, although this album made me laugh a couple of times, you really shouldn't buy this CD. I'm usually pretty open to different bands, so when a friend bought this CD, I listened to it, and it was really stupid. The lyrics sound like they took the band 2 minutes to write, and the guitar playing and the drumming is nothing special. The leads singers voice isn't that great either. So save yourself a couple bucks and don't buy this CD. To put it simply, it sucks.

    Drunk Enough to Sing Along

If you like Sum 41 and Blink 182, Bowling for Soup will be right up your alley. Jaret's lyrics aren't your typical she left me and I'm pissed off, but rather have a twisted and upbeat playfulness. BFS seduces the younger crowd with their tasteful obscenities, but since they don't go over the edge, they appeal to the older crowd too. If you get a chance, catch one of their live shows. You will not only hear some great tunes, they will also entertain you with their comedic antics and stupid human tricks. Drunk Enough to Dance is rousing and upbeat. It will definitely make you want to get up and dance or at least sing along, even if you aren't drunk enough.
