An excellent book.  Just purchased a Nikon D7100 and was curious how to shoot with it outside the Auto/Scene modes.  The guide that came with it was confusing (as they often are) and didn't explain things like what aperture is, how to use it, how it affects your photographs, and so on.  This book did an great job with explaining all the manual settings in layman's terms so they're easily understood.  Plus, it has quite a bit of other helpful information on composition, editing photos in software, how to organize/store them, and the like.  Very helpful.  Got me interested in other types of photography, too - like close-ups.

This book gave new life to our DSLR camera.  We've been using it like a point-and-shoot for years - just snapping pics in Auto mode, never taking the time to learn how to use the manual controls for better shots because we were intimidated by all the buttons and switches.  After reading this book, I have a better understanding of how to modify aperture, shutter speed, and ISO settings to take great pics in any situation.  The other info on composition, style, processing, etc. was a bonus!
