About the Author

James Joyce (1882-1941) was born in Dublin, Ireland, and spent most of his adult life on the European continent. In addition to Dubliners (1914), he published A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (1916), Exiles (1918), and two milestones of experimental modernist fiction: Ulysses (1922)and Finnegans Wake (1939).

M. Keith Booker is Professor of English at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He is the author or editor of more than fifty books on literature, culture, and film.
