All Music Guide - Bruce Eder
Recorded late in 1961, this album is a milestone in Doris Day's career -- despite having generated no hits -- as her best long-player and, by extension, her best CD and her purest jazz solo album. Cut as a duet with Andre Previn with Previn Trio bassist Red Mitchell and drummer Frank Capp providing occasional support, the album presents Day in the most intimate musical setting of her career. Her trademark style of singing works twice as well here as it did on her swing-era and early solo recordings. The CD reissue includes three previously unreleased outtakes, among them even more upbeat renditions of "Fools Rush In" and "Close Your Eyes." And the notes by Will Friedwald are also a treat. Worth tracking down -- if you own only one Doris Day non-hits
on-swing-era CD, this is the one. [The 2001 reissue adds five bonus tracks: "You're Good for Me," "In Love in Vain," and alternate takes of "Close Your Eyes," "Fools Rush In," and "Nobody's Heart."]

    OMG!!!!!!!

Doris Day in this recording with the superb piano accompaniment of Andre Previn has to rank as one of the greatest duets. Her beautiful sweet and romantic voice absolutely seduced me beyond belief. My love was instant with my heart melting at practically every word that was sung. This is straight to the heart Cool Jazz that for me is simply wonderful and mesmerizing. Don't cheat yourself of this incredible experience :D

    Nobody like Doris

This recording by Doris Day is a wonderful cd.Doris sings these cool jazzy numbers as only Doris can..It is such a shame that her trademark song ''whatever wil be, will be''is probably the song she gets the most recogniton for as a singer..Sure it is a very likeable song but definitely not a song to showcase the real vocal greatness of this lady...however this cd ''Duets'' will come as a suprise to those not really familiar with Doris Day the singer...Doris ranks as one of the greatest singers of all time.
