I play as a supplemental musician in a regional orchestra. Knowing the context in which my assigned parts are played (the passages before and after, with what other instruments I may be doubling, and the "color" of the instruments with which I play in ensemble) is, of course, essential, but also entertaining. It helps me develop an appreciation for the music and composer that is unobtainable otherwise. This book contains two repertory classics in full score size. It's a great value and is easy to read and study. I'll be marking it up and highlighting. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
