I loved this book. D.B. Reynolds certainly knows how to spin a very good tale.

Duncan Milford, Raphael's trusted second has taken the Washington DC Territory from Victor, a corrupt vampire lord. The story begins with a high action vampire-to-vampire duel for supremacy and, of course, Duncan won. As he is straightening up the after battle carnage, a lovely human, Emma Duquet who came to the "vampire embassy", seeking help in locating her friend Lacey.

The story picked up from there. It wasn't a fast paced read but it was very evenly paced to keep the reader engaged. As the story unfolded, the reader is introduced into a vampire/political underworld of degradation and depravity.

I appreciated this story, because unlike Sophia, there was very little of Raphael and Cyn in this story. Duncan's character was strong enough that he could carry the book alone, with little to no influence from the stars of the Vampires in America series. I love them madly but it was nice to have them be very remote and removed secondary characters.

Bravo Ms. Reynolds...Outstanding job! I look forward to reading about Lucas. So.........are you finished that book yet? :).

    Awesome Read!

I've waited a long time for Duncan's story. I fell in love with him from the beginning of this series. There's action, passion and DUNCAN!!! If you love PNR with lots of romance then I highly recommend this series and this book.
