Huge D&D Fan since its first edition, I would buy this and the entire collection if there were people in my area who played this awesome game. If you have an imagination, this is the game to buy.
This is a fine, affordable collection of everything you need to run fourth edition D&D. The book contains all of the key information of the original 4e DM guide; in addition, though, you receive nice battle mats, creature tokens (lets you avoid using coins or rocks to represent characters without going to the expense of buying miniatures), a good screen with quick reference information, and an adventure for your gaming group.
I'm a huge D&D fan, and I'm thrilled about the Essentials that have been released. However, when I snagged this one, mainly for the Dungeon Master's Essential book, I was sorely dissapointed. Unlike the other essentials, the book just hashes out the same exact stuff that is in the Dungeon Master's Guide. There are no new tricks of the trade type of material within. You get some nicely graphically designed player / monster tokens with a green / red circle to show if bloodied or not. And a small adventure. But with the books being the primary source of material, I would not recommend getting this kit new.
