Dust of Eden - Thomas Sullivan

Before the world was born, there was the Dust of Eden-blood-red earth from which all else was created. The last deposit of the mysterious dust became a viciously guarded secret...until the site was disturbed. A bit of Eden found its way into the hands of Ariel Leppa-an embittered elderly woman unaware of its ferocious power...for a time.

Praise for Thomas Sullivan:

“He tells stories like Fabergé made eggs - exquisitely crafted, each one unique and beautiful and of the finest kind, and I'm eternally grateful to him for sharing. This is fiction for grown-ups -- emotionally complex, literate and compulsively readable. Highly recommended.” – Mark Lancaster, Reviewer & Commentator

Editorial Reviews

Author of "Eden"
“Thomas Sullivan is a master of description.” – William X. Kienzle, author of the Father Koesler mystery series “A memorable journey . . . compelling read. Classic Sullivan.”
The Chicago Tribune
“One is convinced that an outsize performer is trying his wings – a John Barth or a John Irving, with a touch of William Gaddis and maybe a dash of Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.”
Author of "Masquerade"
“Trying to pigeonhole Thomas Sullivan would be like calling Hemingway an outdoor writer, or Fitzgerald the king of glamour and glitz. He's that good, moving effortlessly from one literary landscape to another, his cast of wonderful characters in tow.”
Author of Billy Gashade
“THE MARTYRING is a modern masterpiece, and Thomas Sullivan is a national treasure.”

    Two Thumbs Way Up!

I did not like this book--I LOVED it. I had to read it in one day because I could hardly put it down. Thomas Sullivan writes a beautiful sentence and tells a well-crafted story. His wit lightens up the creepy bits so that one does not get totally 'creeped out,' as they say, ensuring that even readers who are not usually fans of the genre can get into it. If it were a movie, they'd be begging for a sequel. Two thumbs way up! I'll definitely be reading more Thomas Sullivan.

    DEJA VU DEATHS

If you like surprises and fast pace this is a great book to read. The characters are sort of sucked into a whirlpool from every direction. I thought at first it was going to be about a treasure hunt in the Middle East. But then we go to an old farmhouse in the middle of Minnesota where a bitter old woman is looking for her second chance in life. She brings back all the people she knew who hurt her. There are other characters with various problems who come into the picture as well. The author is a very good writer with a great imagination. The end was full of surprises.

    A reviewer

I just finished this novel tonight. It's not my favorite Sullivan novel (that would be THE PHASES OF HARRY MOON), but it's my favorite with a horror orientation. Thomas Sullivan shows enormous range, from domestic-scale impressions of the raw feelings in hurtful and loving human relationships, to evocations of the other side of death, with all its cosmic horror and mystery. This story is as unique and fascinating an account of reclamation of the dead as I've yet encountered -- there are more than enough seriously bone-chilling passages, written with more than journeyman-like flair -- Sully is truly one of the masters, and he graces our genre when he writes on these themes. The ways that people hold power over each other, the ways we bargain for love, the ways we wish we can make people feel what we want them to feel - it's all here, and much more. Highly recommended.

    Interesting story

One of the more compelling novels in the horror fantasy genre. Sullivan's plot is somewhat unusual and the writing style is of page turning caliber.

What a complete disappointment. This book started out fast and fun but then went to Minnesota and BOMBED. Ugh, I cannot believe I finished the book - I felt so betrayed by the second act after the action in the first.

STAY AWAY - will not likely read another of his novels as I am so disappointed. Worst book I have read in VERY long time.
