Overview

The rollicking Western Dusty begins in 1878 in Mills County, Texas, when two ranch hands come across a stranger at a campfire. They find out later that the man named Dusty had drawn them there to save their lives from Indians.

Dusty Rhodes joins the men as they travel back to the ranch where they work. Dusty is known to the owner, and ends up taking a job for the rancher leading a cattle drive to Kansas.

Along the way, there are storms and the herd is attacked by cattle rustlers, but Indians help Dusty and his men fight off the rustlers. Dusty meets a Mexican woman and the two fall in love and marry.

Dusty returns from the cattle drive just as his wife is giving birth to their child. The sequel to this book is now being written, and takes up the story four years later.

The moon shine in the sky like the sun. Stars glitterd as white puffy snow fell covering the ground. The dark paw of a tabby stepped into the snow. He sniffed around, his dark Blue eyes swepping the forest near him. The tabby flicked his tail and three other cats followed behind closely. Suddenly a sherick filled the forest. "Did you hear that" a Grey striped She-Cat asked. The Tabby turned around to look at her"yes i did Dovestripe" he answerd. "I herd too" a Yellow tom piped up "so did i" a torrtishelled included. "The cold must be messing with our minds" he mewed. "Tigerfoot its real i scent fear-scent" the yellow tom mewed. "It must be Sorrelpaw then Reedcloud" Tigerfoot answerd. Sorrelpaw looked at Tigerfoot. The scream came again only louder. "Tigerfoot! I see a she-cat" Sorrelpaw mewed. The four cats oadded toward the she-cat. She layed in te cold and let out another shrieck. "Hello im Tigerfoot are you okay" Tigerfoot mewed alarmed. "My kits keep them safe" she mewed. The silver paws suddenly stoped and the silver cat turned around. "Yes Moonstar why" she asked.. "my Warriors foundkits their mother died. She asked for us to take good care of them." Moonstar mewed.
