It opens with the 1991 Canadian made-for-television chronicle Lost in the Barrens, about an orphaned teenager and a tribal hunter who forge a close friendship while making their way through an inhospitable wilderness. The second installment, the 1994 Canadian direct-to-video saga Rugged Gold, stars L.A. Law's Jill Eikenberry as Martha Martin, a courageous woman forced to struggle for survival in the Alaskan wilderness when her lover and son go missing. 1976's Pony Express Rider constitutes a little-seen U.S. theatrical feature starring The Brady Bunch's Maureen McCormick, in the tale of a young man who joins The Pony Express with the hope that it will lead him to his father's killer. Finally, 1976's Baker Hawk, another seldom-seen theatrical outing from 1976, stars Clint Walker as Billy Baker, the socially ill-adjusted son of a political leader, who rescues an injured hawk and then befriends a town recluse (Burl Ives).
