Overview

Academy Award-nominated for his groundbreaking animated short of the same name, filmmaker Shane Acker makes his feature directorial debut with this expanded version of his acclaimed post-apocalyptic fable. In a world parallel to our own, the worst has happened, and humanity is in danger of extinction. From the ashes of destruction emerges a courageous rag doll named 9 (voice of Elijah Wood) whose unique leadership skills could prove the key to survival for those who have not yet perished. Perhaps with a little help from his friends, who include domineering war veteran 1 (voice of Christopher Plummer), aging inventor 2 (voice of Martin Landau), stout mechanic 5 (voice of John C. Reilly), visionary artist 6 (voice of Crispin Glover), and fearless warrior 7 (voice of Jennifer Connelly), 9 will prove capable of salvaging what still remains of this world, and laying the groundwork for a hopeful future. Produced by Tim Burton, Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Night Watch), and Jim Lemley (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly), 9 takes viewers on a surrealistic journey into a world where anything is possible.

9 is not about a bunch of puppets running around a wasteland. This movie encompasses the battle between good and evil, technological advances versus the risks to humanity, and the ability of courage and sacrifice to overcome fear. While not suitable for children under the age of eleven or so, adults will find this fascinating and older children will want to watch it again and again. 9 is part of our permanent blu-ray library. We even gifted it to our (retirement age) parents who love it.

"9" is the most outstanding blu-ray movie I have seen to date! Watch this movie, not only to enjoy the film, watch it to be in awe of the amazing picture quality! No other animated movie to this point looks better then this. "Up", "Bee Movie", "Cars" & "Ratatouille" are amazing on blu-ray, but their no match for "9". "9" is also a good movie, I loved the story and the characters! The only small complaint that I could make, is that the movie felt rushed. It's only 80 minutes long. The voice cast of the movie did a good job as well - Christopher Plummer... 1 Martin Landau... 2 John C. Reilly... 5 Crispin Glover... 6 Jennifer Connelly... 7 Fred Tatasciore... 8 Elijah Wood... 9 Alan Oppenheimer... The Scientist Enjoy~

Fantastic movie. If you like Tim Burton, you should enjoy this one. Probably too dark for children (and it's PG13). Quite an intense film.

A lot of people didn't seem to like this very much, but I rather enjoyed it. I thought it was cool. While I don't see it as one of the best movies Tim Burton has ever worked on, (he produced this one), I still enjoyed it. It had a very strange and different idea behind it, for a post-apocalyptic film, but I found it rather neat. It's a bit intense in a lot of scenes too, with a few things that pop out at you. (If you have a bad heart or anything like that or whatever, I would not recommend viewing this title). If you are a die hard Tim Burton fan like I am, or just enjoy interesting new sci fi/fantasy titles with a post-apocalyptic premis to them, I recommend checking this one out. Below are some other good Tim Burton movies.

its a bit scary for the younger kids but the animation is incredible.

I guess I can't blame Tim Burton for this one, he didn't even direct this film he just supported character design. A disappointment, truly, I wasn't expecting something so...unbecoming I suppose. Corpse Bride was pretty bad but this was just terrible. My friends had warned me constantly, but I was begining to trust Tim Burton again since he had done a pretty decent job with Coraline. But this was really trash, excuse my language. The effects and picture were amazing, the story line? Not so. Robots take over the world, verdad? Well, it's not that I don't believe that one day we may be consumed with technology (its already kind of happened) but that idea has been used waaaayy too many times. All of the voice actors include Elijah Wood and Christopher Plummer, so if you are interested please heed my warning. On the good side, animation was incredible.

Being textile artists, we went to the theater to see this movie as the characters were made from cloth. Weird reason to see a movie but they were "cloth"! The movie was wonderful and the character's cloth bodies were all different and so intriguing that we had to purchase the movie for a friend who couldn't go with us.
