Although made for TV, this is a beautifully produced, and acted, film. Patrick Stewart is awesome and fully imerses himself in to the lead role of Scrooge. Christmas ghosts ,especially Joel Gray, are a delight as they teach Scrooge the consequenses of his approach to life and relationships. Although this was screened several times on TNT last year, it is a superb addition for any collector who appreciates fine film-making. Simply, magical,
Patrick Stewart is a phenomenal actor, and he really shines in this movie. He once traveled around the country performing a one-man show of this story, and you can tell that he knows his part and the story intimately. This is the only adaptation of ''A Christmas Carol'' I've ever seen that remains almost one hundred percent true to the book. I highly, highly recommend it.
This is a beautiful and faithful adaption of a great story. Patrick Stewart is a remarkable actor and he brings great power to this role. The supporting cast is wonderful. It's become a tradition in our family! This is a terrific movie!
I read the book by Charles Dickens and I liked it and I have seen several of the different movie adaptations and have liked most of them but this one starring Patrick Stewart is my absolute favorite. It is an outstanding production and Patrick Stewart is superb as Ebenezer Scrooge and the rest of the cast is great too! I highly recommend this DVD!
I first found this movie on TNT. It was halfway of the movie, and I found that all the actors were exceptionally good. I liked Patrick Stewart who played Mr. Scrooge, and I liked the actors who played the Cratchit Family. They successfully played the cold, stingy Mr. Scrooge; and the warm, loving Cratchit Family. I liked the movie so much and purchased a copy after watching it!
This is one of my favorite Christmas movies. I love this version because of Patrick Stewart, he is Scrooge. My son and I make this one of our every holiday season must watch.
Patrick Stewart plays the Ebenezer Scrooge effortlessly and flawlessly. Every Christmas season we watch all of the Christmas Carol movies that are true to the book. While I enjoy the old classics, it is this version that is my favorite. All of the characters are played so well by the cast. I find that I am whisked away to another time period.
This is my favorite movie version if A Christmas Carol. My family watches it every year as a tradition. This version, from the beginning, focuses on the dynamics in the relationships, and not just on hating Scrooge. The movie preserves the many subtle mystical and spiritual messages in the story, making for a very rich experience. Plus it has Patrick Stewart... ;)
First of all, I love Patrick Stewart. He is such a consummate and versatile actor. Every character he plays is a new creation. The rest of the cast is good, too. Now, I'm really not such a fan of ''A Christmas Carol,'' but this movie had me weeping the first time I saw it. I saw it again a few years later and I thought, ''Oh, it won't make me cry this time.'' Well, I remembered when all the sad parts were coming and started crying before it got sad. I don't cry easily, so any movie that can make me shed tears is worth its salt.
