This Series 11 and 12 box set -- collecting the three Touch of Frost telefilms that aired in Britain on ITV between October 2003 and September 2005 -- brings fans nearly up to date with Detective Inspector William Frost (David Jason) and his investigations. The latest Frost at this writing, "Endangered Species," airs in Britain in November 2006, with a U.S. DVD release somewhere down the road. Still, there's plenty of Frost here, as the gruff, rule-breaking investigator anchors "Another Life," "Dancing in the Dark," and "Near Death Experience." After a seven-month-long suspension from Series 10's "Held in Trust," Frost returns to the beat in "Another Life," first investigating a dead body found with a considerable amount of money but no ID, then looking into the discovery of a dismembered body -- with two left feet -- which may be connected to the local dance school. Frost gets a new assistant, Detective Jasper Tranter (Nicholas Burns), whose first job is to fetch Frost an egg sandwich from the cafeteria in "Dancing in the Dark." Eventually he and Frost team up to hunt down the killer of a gambler who had won big, perhaps to his misfortune. And finally, in "Near Death Experience," Frost is teamed up with Sergeant Sharpe (Philip Jackson) to identify a suspected serial killer preying on woman in their homes.
