hated by the critics, ac/dc is adored by their fans. i've seen many a concert by groups such as the stones, the allman bros, michael jackson, etc. and no one comes close to connecting with their audience like these guys. from the opening riff to the finish the audience dances, claps, sings along and never sits down. the truth is that their music, their 'hooks' on every song are irresistable-they make you want to get up and dance. the lyrics are so so but catchy with too much emphasis on sexual innuendo for my taste, but i guess that's part of the allure to their typically young and working class crowd. make no doubt about it, angus young is the best showman in rock-remember i've seen the stones 10 times. and also a terrific guitar plyer. his brother malcolm is a superb rhythm guitarist, while the drummer, who no longer plays for them, is not only a great player but has an intensity about him that's riveting. one quick note about this group which i find amusing. the critics hate them. all these college educated sophisticates abhor them as male chauvinists. they think their lyrics are somehow degrading to women and that their music is simplistic-too basic to be considered serious by let's say the 'great' rolling stone magazine, which never gave them a favorable review or by the new york times which to my knowledge has never mentioned them. yet they have been and continue to be one the biggest draws in the entertainment biz. believe me you will never see a better group live-not only are they competent, they're into it big time with an honesty that's palpable. this recording was edited in such a way so that you can feel this intensity as they play, and feel the intensity of the audience and how they connect. it's very cool. i own lots of musical dvds from led zep to das rheingold and this is number one. i actually own it on vhs, and feel i gotta have it on dvd for the enhancemants in sound and content. on the fence whether to buy it. jump in- you'll be thanking me. enjoy!
I have been a die hard AC/DC fan ever since "You Shook Me All Night Long" changed my life. Nobody in my school likes ac/dc, and i get made fun of for it, but in the end, I get the last laugh. All the rap and pop stars that they enjoy are gone in a matter of years, but THESE bad boys have been rockin' for over 30 years. This dvd is incredible, it really documents what an ac/dc concert is really like. Oh, if only I had been born 25 years earlier....
I don't write to many reviews, but only when something is as good as this I do. This DVD is great, at first I considered the stiff upper lip DVD because it has more tracks. But then I heard this DVD is more exiting, because there younger and they move around more. And boy was it ever true,Angus never stops to catch his breath.I liked the part in 'Jailbreak'where Angus Young strips into his underwear and moons the crowd. Then at the end of 'Jailbreak' he rolls onto the ground and starts spinning around and freaking out.And on 'Hells Bells' at the end Angus takes Brians hat and puts it on,and runs away, then Brian Johnson picks up a giant sludge hammer and starts hitting the giant bell.Angus is full of energy and alway running and jumping. It's incrdible stage antics like these that seperate an AC/DC concert from any other. Also Angus sticks the guitar neck between Johnsons' legs and plays it like that.A great concert.
An awesome video. Hells Bells, Shook me all night long, Jailbreak, and for those about to rock (we salute you) are all awesome songs. A great performance by Angus Young. He was definately the heart of that night. Everyone should get this movie, it is incredible.
Live in Donington is the greatest rock movie ever. I just can't stop watching it, its so good. Like Let there be rock because that is my favorite song. And in that song were the Angus Blow dude's pant fall down is so funny. Just like the part in Jailbreak werer Angus shows his but to the croud. The songs are so great. The cool thing is if you buy the cd then you know that there doing. It's so cool. I just can't stop talking about it. Overall anyone who sees this movie should buy it right away.
This is AC/DC's best performance captured live ever. It shows what Angus is capable in his guitar abilities. The band puts all they have to offer on the line in this video. It features such awesome songs as Highway to Hell, Hells Bells, and THunderstruck.
This video had to have been the best AC/DC product I have ever bought. It shows all band members at their best. Angus goes Crazy just as any hardcore AC/DC fan would ecpect him to. And Brian Johnson's voice was as good, if not better than the original recordings of the songs.
It made me feel as if i was at the consert, the sound ^ colour were perfect.
