Aeon FluxDirector: Karyn Kusama
Based on the animated series by Peter Chung, Aeon Flux imagines a future in which 99 percent of the world's population is killed through industrial disease, and the survivors live in a single city that, despite utopian appearances, is quite totalitarian. Disinclined to embrace any particular ideology outside of a hatred for Trevor Goodchild (Marton Csokas), the leader of the council that governs the walled city, hyper-sexualized assassin Aeon Flux (Charlize Theron) seeks to bring about a revolution. Retaining the title character's trademark jet-black hair and sleek, revealing clothing, this film adaptation fleshes out the story behind the sexual and romantic tension between Aeon and Trevor.

This live action movie is indeed NOT the animated series BUT it did captured the full essence of the animated series. The plot of the movie can stand on its own. While the viewer must remember that had plot format from the animated series had been followed there would be no sense of continuity from the beginning through to the end (and that's NOT being negative to the animated series).
I wasn't expecting much, and got alot. Good storyline, nice flow. And charlize...well what can i say she's a 5 star woman. Man !! Beautiful!! I wish i had gone to see it in the theater now.
THIS WAS AN OKAY MOVIE, BUT IF YOU WANT TO COMPARE IT AS A REMAKE, YOU'LL BE DISAPPOINTED. IT'S NOT THAT THE MOVIE DIDN'T FOLLOW CHUNG'S BUNDLE OF STORIES IT'S THE RATING AND TEXTURE OF THE FILM. THERE IS GOOD ACTION BUT IT LACKS THE EPIC QUALITY IN THE SERIES. ALSO, CHUNG'S STORIES MADE THE SERIES VERY INTERESTING. THE FILM DEPICTS THE SERIES INTO A THREE ACT SCI-FI MOVIE THAT FAILS TO BE WORTHY OF ANYTHING GREATER THAN A B MOVIE WITH SPECIAL EFFECTS. SERIOUSLY, WHERE IS THE SEX,GORE,VIOLENCE, PHILOSOPHICAL DEBATES, AND PURPLE SKY? NOT IN THIS ONE BECAUSE THE PRODUCER AND DIRECTOR WANTED A BRIGHT FUTURE. AND SECOND THOUGHT, WHAT HAPPEND TO THE WAR IN THE FILM? IMAGES IN THE SERIES LIKE THE DEAD SOLDIERS BEING PARACHUTED BACK TO BREGNA, AND STUFF ARE ABSENT TOO. OH WELL, I THINK ANOTHER REMAKE SHOULD HAPPEN.
This movie didnt do great at the box office but these days that doesnt mean anything. It was a great movie and if you enjoy the science fiction genre then it is a perfect movie for you. It has some negative things about it but it is overall a movie that i enjoyed.
I saw this on tv a year ago and when I got a blu ray player it went on the must own list. Thanks to Barnes and NObles Blu Ray sale a while back I was able to get it for a decent price. This movie is definitely worthy of the BLu Ray treatment, most sci fi films are. YOu can see the picture benefits from it along with the sound. I hope other companies take their cue from this, If you're going to ask 20-30.00 for a blu ray vs 5-10.00 for a dvd you need to offer a valid reason for the extra 20-. Aeon does this hands down. I don't own the dvd nor would I want to since I knew the blu ray would benefit from the storage capacity that blu ray discs offer. AS for the movie-acting is ok, storyline decent nice twists and plots. Is it a repeatable movei sure from time to time. It does make me want to watch the original cartoon from MTV which I plan to buy the dvd collection in the future. But for nw I'll enjoy the blu ray. I'm eager to get surround sound set up to see how the disc takes advantage of it,
Underneath the twisting plots and subplots, one would think there is something more to the story, in fact you just get lost from time to time. The story is actually pretty interesting and sure there are slight messages like the absolute corruption of power, and having the freedom to be striped away from you, but it really dosen't go much deeper than that. One can't expect much from a movie made from an animation made from a video game. Aeon flux is somewhat of a muddy ultrafuturistic brain teaser that is either ahead of it's time or needs time to develope. I thought the sets and backdrops were gorgeous, the costumes were hot, the action was tight and off the wall crazy and the EFX were top notch, but these factors don't make up for the twisting almost nonsense story line. Over all it's not a bad movie, it just could have been a little better.
this book sucks i dont like it at all the good parts all happened in the previews nuthin else good happened this movie sucks
