    Agatha Christie's Miss Marple: Classic Mysteries(DVD)

    A well-balanced collection. We first saw this series on the Mystery series on PBS and really enjoyed each of the stories. Watching them again was as enjoyable as the first time we saw them. Technically, the images are clear and the color is spot on. The audio is great as well. We have enjoyed reacquainting ourselves with Miss Marple. In our opinion, Joan Hickson is the definitive Miss Marple.

    Joan Hickson IS Miss Jane Marple!!!

    Fabulous! Any lover of Agatha Christie will enjoy these episodes immensely. Faithful to the books, Joan Hickson portrays Miss Marple as inquisitive, astute, and fearless. Her performance is the best of all the previous actresses who have tried to capture the essense of Christie's Jane Marple. The nine episodes included in the collection are true to the original plots. If you want a good mystery, do not pass up this collection. It will not disappiont!

    the best

    Come on it's a set of Miss Marple mysteries and best of all she is played by Joan Hickson--if you are a mystery fan then it just doesn't get any better than this. The series is done by A&E rather than Acorn Media which is usually a game breaker for me but i haven't seen these any where else so i took a chance. The picture and sound were good; as for any clipping or cropping of the original stories i will probably never know. The plots are terrific and the back and forth between Marple and the chief detective is always a treat.

    Thoroughly enjoyed it

    A very good compilation of Miss Marple and Joan Hinkson is a very engaging actress. I particularly liked Sleeping Murder. For Agatha Christie fans, this collection is worth every penny!

    Message to reviewer David L: you can read the titles for this DVD set by opening the Preview Scene Index (just below customer rating). I too love Joan Hickson's Miss Marple and have most of those titles on VHS.

    It IS a duplicate

    Great series, but this seems to be the same as set one and two sold by A&E. Looking at the larger view, I was able to see two titles "A Caribbean Mystery" and "They Do it with Mirrors."

    Best detective character ever encountered

    I can't' really rate this specific title since I do not own it. There's NO list of titles included with the selection page. I own Set 2 and one other set (number?) but I am looking for even more of Jane Marple. She's much better than Poirot, Frost,or Barnaby, and she's even as good as Inspector Morse for sheer enjoyment reading and watching. I just can't buy this one without knowing which titles are included in the 15 hours and don't care to duplicate what I already have.
