Overview

An outwardly ordinary teenager finds himself suddenly thrust into extraordinary circumstances upon discovering that his entire youth was part of an elaborate plan to create the perfect super spy in director Geoffrey Sax's action-packed adaptation of author Anthony Horowitz's best-selling series of novels featuring an adolescent secret agent. Alex Rider Alex Pettyfer always though that his kindly uncle Ian Ewan McGregor was your average, everyday nondescript bank manager, but when Ian was murdered by notorious assassin Yassen Gregorovich Damian Lewis, everything young Alex thought he knew would be forever changed by one simple bullet. A deadly martial artist, skilled linguist, steady-handed mountaineer, and deadeye marksman, Alex realizes that his uncle has been secretly training him in the art of espionage when he is recruited by MI6 Special Operations agents Mr. Blunt Bill Nighy and Mrs. Jones Sophie Okonedo. It seems that billionaire Darius Sayle Mickey Rourke has generously offered to donate a complimentary Stormbreaker supercomputer to every school in Britain, but while his philanthropic offer is welcomed with open arms by the struggling school system, MI6 fears that something nefarious is afoot. Assigned the task of infiltrating Sayle's impenetrable lair by posing as the winner of a computer magazine contest, Alex makes the acquaintance of shady Sayle sidekicks Mr. Grin Andy Serkis and Nadia Vole Missi Pyle before getting a special sneak preview of the remarkable Stormbreaker's true powers. His cover subsequently blown, Alex is given a key piece of information regarding the remarkable computer before being thrown to a giant jellyfish by Sayle and his henchmen and left to die just as the prime minister is about to push the button that will activate Stormbreaker computers all across Britain. With no time to spare and the fate of a nation hanging in the balance, Alex must now enlist the help of his trusted housekeeper Jack Starbright Alicia Silverstone and faithful classmate Sabina Pleasure Sarah Bolger in ensuring that the Stormbreaker system is not activated and revealing Sayle for the true villain that he is before the young super spy's breathless first mission becomes his fatal last.

    Awesome!

It was a really good adaptation. Very fun to watch. Every actor matched the role, especially Alex. It should have gotten more recognition, like Eragon. It should have been a hit. It flopped badly more in the US, better in the UK. Keep on making them, and the if Point Blank fails, make the next lower- budget.

    Pretty good

This was a great adaptation of the book for the most part. What I liked was Alex (he was really cute!!!!), Nadia Vole, the suspense and gadgets, and just the plot. What I didn't like was Sabina (she wasn't in the book and I liked it better that way), the whole horseback riding scene (pointless), and the guy who played Herod Sayle (creepy). Overall, it was wonderful, though, and I hope they make the Point Blank into a movie, too. Hopefully this one will make it to the big screen!

    C'mon People, No follow Up?!?!

This is a movie based on one of the most incredible books ever written. This a pretty good interpretation of the book. I thought Alex played Alex great. I sooooooo wish that they would turn Point Blank into a movie. If only they would of including Americans in the production of the film...

    LUVD IT!!!

This is one of the rare cases where the movie is better than the book (Sorry! It's only my humble opinion!). I liked the ending better in the movie better than the book (again: Sorry!) and the part with Sabina was cool. The whole hangin-over-the-edge thing was more dramatic than a few pages of saying "Sayle got shot". The actor for Alex was a good choice (cute too!) and Nadia Vale was perfect. The book was more mystery than adventure (one again: Sorry!) but my POV might have to do with the fact that I saw the movie before reading the series. Don't get me wrong: the books are great. I just think that the movie is better. Everyone has their own opinion, though.

It isn't much like the book(most movies aren't), but they were trying to fit things from the other books in the series into this because there is only going to be one movie!!!!! :(

    Good, but book was better

Nothing like the book. I was so amazed by the book, but the movie was not that great. They changed Sayles' first name and the reason he became rich. They left out the whole Ian Rider's map scene from the book. The ending was so different from the book. They gave Jack such a big role in the movie, but gave many main characters a small role.
