Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Ed Hulse
Few recent TV series can boast the loyal fan following of ABC's Alias, and the 22 second-season episodes included here prove once again that it is arguably the smartest, sexiest, most stylish hour on network television. Jennifer Garner has already earned a place in the pantheon of prime-time leading ladies for her portrayal of seductive super-spy Sydney Bristow, the CIA double agent who has infiltrated SD-6, a rogue espionage operation playing for very high stakes in a multinational game. Having established the series' basic premise, the 2002-3 season took things up a notch by broadening the characters' interrelationships and further complicating an already mind-boggling operation. In a sure sign that the series has Hollywood cachet, Season 2’s guest roster includes Faye Dunaway, Christian Slater, Amy Irving, Rutger Hauer, and David Carradine. Returning principals Michael Vartan (as Sydney's love interest, Michael Vaughn), Victor Garber (her duplicitous dad, another double agent), and Ron Rifkin (as the evil mastermind Arvin Sloane) were joined by Lena Olin, whose scene-stealing turn as Sydney's mom -- herself a secret agent long thought dead -- enlivened every episode and added a new layer of complexity to the basic plot. The second season even boasted Hitchcockian "macguffins" in the form of the "Rambaldi artifacts," which were used to springboard various subplots. Endowed with feature-quality production values, tight scripts, muscular direction, and top-notch performances, Alias richly deserves its kudos.

I love both Alias 1 and 2, but to me Alias 2 is the best so far. The action, romance, love and family dysfunction makes it a great and exciting show. It was a superb idea to bring in the wonderful Lena Olin to play Irina Durevkov. Jennifer,Lena and Victor have great chemistry. It is worth getting the DVD just to watch the great episodes over and over again without commercials!!!!!!!!!

This is the best show ever! Full of butt kicking! What more can you ask for?

Amazing! Garner, Vartan, Garber, Olin, Rifkin and all the rest have done an absolutely fantastic job on this show. It's disappointing that Garner, Garber and Olin didn't pick up any Emmy's at last year's show, but maybe the officials will finally come to their senses. I am planning on buying both seasons and am eagerly waiting for Sydney's mother to return. The family relationship that the show explores between the three is very intriguing. I have read all the books that were available and, like the show, they were all well done. ALIAS RULES!

This is truly the coolest thing ever!! I thought the first set was good, but this set blows the first season Alias set out of the water! Nothing is better than this, you can watch it over and over and still not catch everything or be bored during it. You're on the edge of your seat every time.

Alias is the BEST show on T.V!! Since the very first episode I've been hooked. The worst part of the show is when I see the word ALIAS appear in white on the black screen because that means it's over. It's heart pounding, fast paced, intellectually stimulating as well as butt kicking action from the first second to the last.

After a very strong first season, this second season was just as thrilling and exciting. It had a lot of twists and turns and edge-of-your-seat excitement. It is sometimes hard to believe that this show has not garnered the number of fans it deserves, so I hope the DVD sales prove otherwise. A definite must have!!!

I know a show has me hooked when I have to send an e-mail from Europe while on vacation to make sure someone tapes it for me! This show is awesome! Just when you think things have settled down, they head in another direction that leaves you wishing it was the next episode. The cast couldn't be better.

Although I have been disenchanted with what has been shown on television in recent years, I have found 'Alias' to be a welcome change. Having grown up in the 'James Bond' era, I have a great appreciation for the spy genre. With its fast pacing, excellent storylines, action sequences and well-developed and likeable characters (or unlikeable, in the case of Sloan and Sark), it is by far my favorite program. Kudos to the writers and Mr. Abrams' direction. In fact, my Sunday night is not complete until I have seen the latest episode. I look forward to Season 4 and beyond.

I was hooked after watching the first 10 minutes of Alias! This is a must have collection. Jennifer Garner and the whole Alias cast is incredible. I cannot get enough! Every show leaves me on the edge of my seat. Thanks to the DVD collections, I can watch them over and over!

This season is awesome. There's a little bit of everything- family issues, romance, dealing with loss, and of course ACTION. I don't want to spoil the ending but it is jaw-droppingly good- see for yourself!

I absolutley love this show! I've seen episodes on tv completely out of order and I finally decided to buy the complete set of seasons. This is a great show and worth watching. I LOVE Jennifer Garner because of this show! She does a great job in a role that sometimes isn't believable, well the situations she's put in, but she's great!

Alias is the best show, it has you on the edge of your seat each show. I hate for the seasons to end. I have been hooked since season one and continue to get friends hooked. Watch one show and you are hooked for life. Alias is a must to a complete weekend. How I love Sydney and Vaughn. And how her dad and she never let eachother down and just when you think one of them are at the end of a rope, yes you know they are right there. Oh I love Alias.

This is the best TV Series on television today. I applaud all the actors and writers they are all wonderful! This series has captured my attention from the very beginning and it gets better each season. Each time I watch it, it takes my breath away with all the action. I recommend everyone to watch it. I would love to see two (2) hour sessions created.

After intelligent on-line friends, whose opinions I respect and appreciate, raved to each other about this show, I finally broke down and saw all of the Season 1 DVDs. Once I got through those I went on to Season 2 and - wow! I couldn't stop watching. I went through a marathon of Alias, S2; it took 2 days. Once I finished watching them I was pining for the Season 3 set (which won't be out for MONTHS - the nerve!). The characters are complex and compelling, the pacing is nearly flawless, and the dialogue is not too much and not too little. It's just great fun.

Season 2 honestly rocked. So excited for this box set, December 2nd is not coming fast enough. If you love Alias - get this set. If you've never seen Alias - get the first season box set AND this set (I'll forgive you for not watching for the past two years) and get caught up. Do it! Best show ever. It will complete you.
