Overview

Though Alice in Chains has been on hold since the latter part of the '90s due to drug relapses and band arguments, these grunge founders have managed to stay on people's minds. Since riding in on the wave that Kurt Cobain and Nirvana made with the introduction of grunge, Alice in Chains has amassed a following that is at times baffling. Having only produced three full length albums, it hardly seems necessary for the band to have a boxed set released, but apparently the public wanted something new from Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell. Not having any new material to offer, it seems the folks at Columbia Music and Video put their heads together and decided to let Alice in Chains ride another wave, the box set wave. Video Bank is meant to accompany the audio release of Music Bank. While Music Bank is a compilation of most of the songs already released by Alice in Chains in alternate mixes and demo versions, Video Bank is a collection of all the band's videos and a short ten minute compilation of home video shot by the band. Though many people may not be impressed with a three CD set of songs they already own, they just may be impressed by the videos contained on Video Bank. This compilation includes the videos for "Man in a Box," "Heaven Beside You," and "Them Bones," all of which saw heavy rotation on MTV. It also includes hidden gems like two separate video versions of "The Rooster" and "We Die Young," as well as lesser seen videos for hits such as "Angry Chair" and "Down in a Hole." If you are an Alice in Chains fan and are looking for something fresh from the band, then Video Bank is a worthy investment. ~ Ed Atkinson

This is a tape of all of ''Alice in chains'' videos.Though, ''Alice in chains'' is not a very original band, (a mirror image of ''Jane's Addiction'')the song '' Would?'' is one of the best rock songs ever recorded. The video shots of the band jamming is intense.''Rooster'' is pretty good too,it captures the horrors of war.Although,I mostley did not like all the morbid, smutty and flashing ''Art'' through out the video. There are some funny and candid home movie out takes ( between songs) of the band members destroying themselves with drugs.Anyways,if you have nothing constructive happening in your life, this video is for you !

Wow! this tape is so cool. It is graet for any long term AIC fan or any one who has just gotten in to them recently. I presonaly have just gotten really into them within the last 6 months and sinse I was just a little kid when they were really popular I never got a chance to enjoy them when they were in their prim. This video featurs their videos for We die young, Man in the box, Sea of sorrow, Would?, Them Bones, Angry Chair, Rooster, What the hell Have I, Down in a hole, No excuses, I stay away, Grind, Heaven beside you, Again, and Get born Again. It also includes live videos of We die young and the MTV unplugged of Over now. Bettween the videos their are cool home video's of the band and an interveiw with the band from before they got famous. Any AIC fan will love this video.

first of all, this video dos not feature anyone ''destroying themselves with drugs'' like ive read around unless youve got one hell of an imagination that is!what the video does feature however is nothing more that all of alice in chains music videos and for a young fan like me that hasnt seen more than 3 aic music videos on mtv its sure gonna come as a great surprise and will have you hooked for as long as you live!some of the finest videos the we die young video, angry chair,i stay away, heaven beside you and again, get born again would have been great if layne staley would have actually apeared in it (what we se are video excerps from the ''sea of sorrow'' video)the reason i didnt give it a greater rating is because most of the home videos and live footage are acompanied with music from the cds over it instead of the actual sound,i really am dying to see some live performances from the dirt period!now put that with some extensive backstage footage and theres five stars!the report of ''a small band from seattle''that would eventually become huge is very refreshing as well as a clip of sean joking around and layne trying to grab some attention but not knowing what to say!hilarious!

All in all this a pretty well put together video, but I had one problem with it, it did not show AIC's original music videos, aka "Man in the Box," "Sea of Sorrow," and a few more, but besides that it was a good dvd.
