    Another way to see Alice!

If you are a baby boomer, you'll love this hippie, 60's stoned version of Alice in Wonderland! And for those who are of another generation, it will give you a great picture of how "way out, man" we all were.

    I Also Recommend:

    Typically British

Filmed in black & white it lacks the colorful surrealism of the 60s, but makes up for it in the dreamlike quality. Just like a dream, the scenes jump from one to the next. Alice stares with a blank expression in odd directions, not at the person to whom she should be speaking. The other characters react as one would expect: with subdued emotion. There are long pauses at times where no one speaks, but camera angles change. Alice's lines are often voice-over: when she speaks her lips don't move, but characters respond as if they did. Peter Cook plays the March Hare, and Peter Sellers makes a brief appearance as the King of Hearts. It's an interesting addition to an Alice in Wonderland DVD collection or for researching early British film-making, but a bit dry for sheer entertainment, certainly not for children.
