Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble
For three decades, Sigourney Weaver starred in the high-tech series about outer-space terror, and in film after film, her character, Ripley, stood as one of the most engaging action heroines in filmdom. This collection gathers all four epics, starting with Ridley Scott's mesmerizing 1979 effort Alien. James Cameron raised the ante with 1986's Aliens. The series continued with the David Fincher-directed Alien 3 in 1993 and 1997's Alien Resurrection, directed by Amelie visionary Jean-Pierre Jeunet.

    Classic Science Fiction

The Alien trilogy - I exclude the fourth in the series - is classic science fiction in all respects. It satisfies nearly all the criteria that make a movie a classic: originality, realism and beleivability within context, developed personality of characters, scientific accuracy, entertainment, cinematography, consistent stylisation and fully structured storyline to name but a few.

The greatest horror saga of all time

Alien was the movie that brought us into a new generation of sci-fi horror. Alien and its sequals took us to new limits of our imagination. They introduced us to a whole new genre of movie making and now they're together in one place for future generations to enjoy. The Alien Legacy stretches beyond the ranking of one of the greatest movie sagas of all time in the sci-fi category; it is one of the greatest movie sagas of all time, in every category.
