Alien ResurrectionDirector: Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Sigourney Weaver, Winona Ryder, Ron Perlman
The history of the Alien series has been a mixed one both in terms of box-office success and critical acclaim, and this is perhaps unwittingly reflected this in Fox's treatment of The Alien Legacy Box Set. The first two films of the series were revolutionary in their own way, each breaking some sort of new ground (Alien is still the film to which all other monster/survival films are compared), whereas the last two were seen as merely run-of-the-mill sci-fi horror films. Consequently, the first two discs of this set are packed with extras, while Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection are almost identical in their lack thereof. This disc contains theatrical trailers for all four Alien films, as well as a short making-of featurette, all of which can be accessed by very nicely done, clean, animated menus. The positive side of these similarities is that Resurrection shares Alien 3's technical superiority. This is an absolutely pristine transfer which serves director Jean-Pierre Jeunet's direction well. The visuals have an almost European, arthouse sensibility to them, and to present them poorly would have been an injustice; fortunately, that is not the case. There are three audio tracks: French Dolby surround, English Dolby surround, and a very strong English 5.1 mix which makes good use of all channels to produce a distinctive atmosphere. As with the previous disc, don't expect a lot of extra information with this one, but the quality of the presentation is top-notch.

Ripley 2.0 Scientists resurrect Ripley and the Alien Queen. Like the other Alien chapters this has humans obsessed with capturing and controlling the aliens. A military. who's training doesn't even remotely prepare them to combat the Aliens. Civilian characters, who's bad-ass attitudes and survival instincts allow a few to survive. Ripley is cloned. This clone has inherited some of the Alien's DNA. The result is a Super Human Ripley - Ripley 2.0 This one has super strength, enhanced senses, rapid healing, acid blood, and telepathy. The cloned aliens also result in a new breed of Alien. All things considered. This is a strong addition to the Alien series
just u thought ALIEN 3 was the finale of the ALIEN series, think again. She's baaaaaccck. again. Clone 8 Ripley. or is she? this is the finale for Sigourney Weaver. i love the ALIEN saga. who would love 2 scream 2 get it at Barnes&Noble?
I get the feeling that the last three comments were written by the same person for effect. Could possibly be the best in the series. A must-have for 'Alien' fans.
Well I don't know about the few first reviewers but I enjoyed this movie. I guess it must of been made for horror fanatics, like myself. It didn't fail to bring back the good alien feeling. If your not big on horror, then you might want to avoid. But if your fine with horror movies or love horror movies then you should try to catch this flick.
This one had a little bit more gore than the other 3, but it was still really amazing. Will not disappoint Alien fans!
After being thrilled by the first two parts and rather disappointed by the third one, I was both curious and skeptical of what the fourth might bring. And, I was pleasantly surprised. While retaining most of the elements known from the original trilogy, this movie is quite dissimilar in many aspects. Thus, don't compare it too strictly against the previous parts. It certainly makes sense that the personality of Ripley II, version 8, differs from the original Ripley character, after being genetically crossed with the aliens. Also, one should allow the queen to evolve as result of the experiment. I wouldn't see this contradicting the original trilogy. This part also adds a fresh touch of humor ("all aliens, please proceed to level 1"), and it is interesting to see the relationship between Ripley and Call develop. Among others, great performance by Brad "Chucky" Dourif as the weird scientist. Overall, maybe not a must for your DVD collection (that would be "Aliens" for sure!), but certainly a good movie to have.
Please... this movie was poorly written and is a disgrace to the Alien franchise. It even goes as far as commiting sacralidge against the Alien queen and ruined the Ripley character. I will erase this movie from my mind and simply pretend it doesn't exist. If your a true Alien fan... stay away from this film.
Having been a longtime fan of the Alien series I was skeptical about this latest version, but I have to say it was GREAT! The most intelligent, scary, and well-scripted of all Alien movies. I never thought I'd see anything better than the original, but this one stands alone. Absolutely fantastic! The plot is great, the directing solid, and the choice of actors impeccable. Highly recommended!
nothing but gore, gore, gore who made this movie? id rather watch barnie than this heck. dont get this...
I absolutely hated this movie. I cant believe they even acknowledge it is part of the Aliens Trilogy. It doesnt even deserve 1 star. Dont buy this movie if you are reading this review.
A pure waist of film. Any fan of the Alien franchise could see. It's idiotic storyline and characters ruined the ending to the best trilogy in history. Do not recommend.
