Overview

Two centuries after Ellen Ripley's death, doctors aboard the space station Auriga clone her using a blood sample taken from Fiorna 161, in hopes of harvesting the queen embryo that was incubating inside of her when she was trapped on the remote penal planet. Finally succeeding after numerous attempts, they remove the alien and repair the clone for further study. Before long, the Ripley clone has gained consciousness, and displays superhuman capabilities that suggest it possesses alien DNA. When Ripley discovers that General Perez Dan Hedaya is keeping the queen in a heavily fortified room of the space station, she warns the military man and his scientists that the creature cannot be contained no matter how hard they try. Meanwhile, General Perez has hired a crew of space pirates to deliver the cryogenically frozen bodies of another ship to the Auriga so they can be used to breed more aliens. The leader of the pirates is Johner Ron Perlman, a gruff mercenary who engages Ripley to no avail. When Call Winona Ryder, one of Johner's crewmembers, admits that she was sent to assassinate Ripley, General Perez attempts to have the pirates executed. The result is a tense standoff between the pirates and the military men, with the aliens causing havoc after breaking free of their containment cells. Attempting a daring escape, Ripley and the pirates discover the lab where she was cloned before being forced to swim through the mess hall, which has been submerged in water during the aliens' escape. Discovering a carefully guarded secret about Call's past, Ripley attempts to convince her to alter the Auruga's course, which was set to Earth when the ship went into emergency mode. With the fate of mankind hanging in the balance, Ripley is captured by the aliens and taken to their nest, where she comes face to face with the mutated results of the scientists' experiments.

    Ripley 2.0

    Ripley 2.0

Scientists resurrect Ripley and the Alien Queen.
Like the other Alien chapters this has humans obsessed with capturing and controlling the aliens. A military. who's training doesn't even remotely prepare them to combat the Aliens. Civilian characters, who's bad-ass attitudes and survival instincts allow a few to survive.

Ripley is cloned. This clone has inherited some of the Alien's DNA. The result is a Super Human Ripley - Ripley 2.0 This one has super strength, enhanced senses, rapid healing, acid blood, and telepathy.

The cloned aliens also result in a new breed of Alien. All things considered. This is a strong addition to the Alien series

Different style than the originals - nevertheless, well done!

After being thrilled by the first two parts and rather disappointed by the third one, I was both curious and skeptical of what the fourth might bring. And, I was pleasantly surprised. While retaining most of the elements known from the original trilogy, this movie is quite dissimilar in many aspects. Thus, don't compare it too strictly against the previous parts. It certainly makes sense that the personality of Ripley II, version 8, differs from the original Ripley character, after being genetically crossed with the aliens. Also, one should allow the queen to evolve as result of the experiment. I wouldn't see this contradicting the original trilogy. This part also adds a fresh touch of humor ("all aliens, please proceed to level 1"), and it is interesting to see the relationship between Ripley and Call develop. Among others, great performance by Brad "Chucky" Dourif as the weird scientist. Overall, maybe not a must for your DVD collection (that would be "Aliens" for sure!), but certainly a good movie to have.

Might be just as good as Aliens!

This one had a little bit more gore than the other 3, but it was still really amazing. Will not disappoint Alien fans!

I am an Alien fan and this movie stinks

Please... this movie was poorly written and is a disgrace to the Alien franchise. It even goes as far as commiting sacralidge against the Alien queen and ruined the Ripley character. I will erase this movie from my mind and simply pretend it doesn't exist. If your a true Alien fan... stay away from this film.

    Very good

Well I don't know about the few first reviewers but I enjoyed this movie. I guess it must of been made for horror fanatics, like myself. It didn't fail to bring back the good alien feeling. If your not big on horror, then you might want to avoid. But if your fine with horror movies or love horror movies then you should try to catch this flick.

    wow

I get the feeling that the last three comments were written by the same person for effect. Could possibly be the best in the series. A must-have for 'Alien' fans.

    Wow!!!!!!!!!

Having been a longtime fan of the Alien series I was skeptical about this latest version, but I have to say it was GREAT! The most intelligent, scary, and well-scripted of all Alien movies. I never thought I'd see anything better than the original, but this one stands alone. Absolutely fantastic! The plot is great, the directing solid, and the choice of actors impeccable. Highly recommended!

    Worst movie ever

I absolutely hated this movie. I cant believe they even acknowledge it is part of the Aliens Trilogy. It doesnt even deserve 1 star. Dont buy this movie if you are reading this review.

    1 star for special FX.

A pure waist of film. Any fan of the Alien franchise could see. It's idiotic storyline and characters ruined the ending to the best trilogy in history. Do not recommend.
