Unlike the previous two discs of The Alien Legacy Box Set, this one is not loaded with special features, but the audio and video transfers are as well done, if not better than the others. Both have been digitally remastered in THX and make excellent use of home-theater capabilities. The soundtrack is a very strong 5.1 mix which makes pronounced, frequent use of the rear channels, adding a great deal of atmosphere to the already claustrophobic nature of the film; voices echo eerily, and lingering, ambient sounds permeate almost every moment. The video transfer is pristine, with not a single instance of graininess or pixilation to be found anywhere. Also, the lines are sharp and the colors clearly defined -- there is very little to no bleeding to be found here. This film relies heavily on shadow and darkness to maintain its suspenseful atmosphere, and it seems that the disc's producers kept this well in mind, mixing the blacks as dark as possible while still maintaining subtle details within them. Again, the extra features are nothing extraordinary; the only feature worthy of special note is a short making-of featurette, which contains interviews with many of the cast and crew. There are also theatrical trailers for all four Alien films, as well as a preview of the video game based on Alien Resurrection, the fourth film in the series. Despite the lack of extraordinary special features, the disc's superb transfer make it a worthy addition to any collection.

this installment in the ALIEN series. ALIEN 3 is now in blu-ray from the Anthology itself. even though for me: its only 3 times the scream or 3 times the Horror of the Queen in Rip. Very dark and scary. blow my mind away 1 more time.

Alien 3 might not be as good as Alien and Aliens but it is better than most movies in general. The story line adds on a unique twist to the series. A superb ending.

The cinematography is uniformly superb, and while you can accuse it of a number of crimes, you can't accuse it of being unoriginal. I left the theater astounded after my first viewing, and for that alone I would recommend the film. And the quoted review from Robert Firsching reveals an astonishing level of ignorance. Ripley is in obvious agony throughout the excruciating, but masterfully constructed, autopsy scene. What is more, the alien in the film was created using practical elements (marionettes and costumes, if I recall correctly) in nearly all, if not all, of its scenes. I'd recommend Mr. Firsching keep his eyes on the screen more and on his notepad less, and that he do his homework before reflexively bashing the 'unconvincing CGI'.

The story in Alien3 is fairly compelling but it would have been better if it did not involve the Ripley character or any of the survivors of James Cameron's masterpiece Aliens (Hicks, Newt, Bishop). It takes every thing that Ripley fought for and struggled against in Aliens and flushes it right down the toilet. Plus... it contains one of the biggest movie flaws in history (for me). When and how did the Queen have time to lay an egg on the Sulaco? At the end of Aliens she came out of the landing gear of the drop ship and does battle with Ripley... that's it end of story. The Queen also ripped away from her egg sack while still on LV426... so how could she have laid an egg anyway! Bad story telling for sure. Alien3 is a film I will erase from my brain. I only recognize Alien and Aliens as the only two legitimate entries into the Alien saga... and if I want to go further than that... I will pick up my copies of the outstanding Dark Horse comic series 'Aliens Earth War'. The Earth War series is what Alien3 should have been.

This seemed to be just a slightly altered retelling of the first film. One Alien picking off a group of unarmed humans trapped in a claustrophobic environment. The characters were done poorly, try and name four, and no one really cared when one was killed. No matter how the Alien was created it ended up looking as if it wasn't real and didn't have the fright factor of those in the first two movies. Watch Alien with the lights off, see Aliens with a friend, and simply ignore the third film which succeeds only in making a bloodshot shaven Weaver look like an eyesore.

this movie was unfortunate in production. The outcome was rough, but brilliant. The climatic scene is the most heart-renching, touching, and amazing scene i have ever seen. just imagine how much bravery it takes to take your own life to save the world. THe alien screams, and they both die... beautiful. The rest of the movie was great to, tight action scenes, and some splatter shots

Alien 3 was still a good movie, but not as good as the other 2. It was really slow the first 1/3 of the movie, but after that, it was amazing. But the other 2 were amazing throughout the whole movie.

I have always felt that Alien 3 did an amazing job with atmosphere. For once there weren't loveable characters to get lost in. This was real, gritty, and viceral. The way it should be. Don't get me wrong, Alien and Aliens were wonderful films. The latter being a favorite of mine. Alien 3 just pulled us from our euphoric cloud to a world that is not so forgiving. The alien in this film was a nice departure, being quadrepedal and everything. The ending is very emotional, especially if you didn't know Alien:Resurrection existed. This really is a great film and I suggest buying it and loving it just as you should the previous films.
