Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble
One of the shining stars of the roots revival visits Louisville, Kentucky, for a night of fiery fiddling, captured on the live DVD Alison Krauss + Union Station. Krauss is joined by singer-guitarist Dan Tyminski, guitarist Ron Black, Dobro player Jerry Douglas, and bassist Barry Bales as the quintet perform hits off their albums Now That I've Found You and New Favorite, as well as a few bluegrass standards. Some of the finer moments here include the sizzling version of "I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow," "Ghost in This House," and "Oh, Atlanta." In addition to the two-plus hours of live music on the single-disc release, the 2-disc set also includes interviews with the band, rare photos, home videos, and an "On the Road" featurette with candid backstage footage. All in all, it's a night of incendiary roots music gone mainstream, and thank heaven for that.

    Totally Trancendent !!!

I've always loved movie soundtracks from Max Steiner's 1933 King Kong to my all time favorite, Last of The Mohicans. A few Sundays ago I watched Breakfast with the Arts on A&E. They did a 2 hour concert on the music from Cold Mountain. I had the Oh Brother Where Art Thou CD and played it a few times...Cold Mountain contained some of the same material and two songs nominated for academy awards, Scarlet Tide and My Ain True Love sung by Alison Krauss... which were wonderful...so I bought that cd and I've played it a lot...Later after after reading a dvd review I bought the AK/US Live dvd... I played it all day yesterday...it is totally transcendent...what an incredible sweet, clean, clear and involving voice surrounded with superb musicianship...folk/contry/blugrass is music I don't normally listen to, but this is totally amazing work with every band member at top form working together. Easily, the best live concert performance I've heard in ages...my highest recommendation. If there was one minor flaw I'd change, it would be to cut down just a bit on the chatter introducing each band memeber. It has superb sound and is recorded in HDTV...DO BUY THIS DVD!

Ok! I love alison and i think she has got one of the best or maybe the best voice i have ever heard! Her Fiddle playing makes you want to get up and get with it! And she is SOOOO funny! To be honest i didnt expect her to have much of a personality but boy WAS I WRONG! She is one of the funniest people i have ever seen! And im soooo glad that i spent 20 bucks on this dvd! It was one of the best investments i have ever made! Simply Awsome!!!!

Alison gets personal with the audience in her joke telling about the guys in the band. Jerry Douglas, need I say any more!! Dan the man is as usual - SUPERB. Definitely worth owning and giving as a gift.
