I did enjoy this book very much. However, I did find it confusing and boring at parts in which I could not follow. But I liked this book because it was interesting and Paul had a very open and interesting mind about how he viewed war and life. This book showed wonderful insight on how war really is and the effects it has on a person. I usually don't enjoy war novels but this was very capturing and brought many emotions upon me. When Paul loses his friends in the war, you can feel Paul's pain and longing for his close school friends. You can also feel his joy and love for them as they go through adventures and work together to get more food. While this book I got more insight of what war is really like, instead of history books, this showed what soldiers really felt and did in their time at war, fighting and just waiting for the next attack. In this book, I learned many new things about war, such as stargazes to surviving war. What stood out in this book was that I could really picture what was going on in the book and could see what Paul was seeing. This book also used great words and was interesting due to the fact that there were flashbacks from Paul's life which helped create his character more. The only thing I would probably say this book lacked was describing Paul well in the beginning of the book; I didn't know his name until much later in the book and that sometimes the book went too deep into explaining things, over and over. I would probably recommend this book to any age, because the reading wasn't exactly super easy, but decent.

When the main character and his friends enlist, they are so excited for honor and glory, but then the reality of war sets in on them.
This movie was made so soon after world war 1 that you can really still see the toil it took on people. All of the people in the movie actually lived through the era they are depicting. The acting is fantastic and I dare you not to tear up several times during the movie.
I think the scene that shows the interaction between the main character and an enemy soldier in a bomb crater should be shown to anyone who is thinking about going to war.
