An American CarolDirector: David Zucker, Kevin Farley, Kelsey Grammer, Trace Adkins
Ebenezer Scrooge gets the parody treatment from veteran writer/director David Zucker (Airplane!, Scary Movie 4) with this comedy starring Kevin Farley as a derisive documentarian (à la Michael Moore) who's visited by three ghosts intent on instilling the American spirit in the disillusioned filmmaker. Kelsey Grammer, Jon Voight, Leslie Nielsen, James Woods, and Dennis Hopper co-star in the Vivendi Entertainment production.

In the same form for the director of Airplane, you will feel that making fun of some things just shouldn't be. However, you can't help it when you know how some Americans actually agree with Michael Moore. If only we could change Mr. Moore's opinion as in the movie. The dialog is hilarious and well written. Don't let any left winger convince you not to view this film. My 19 yr. old son and his friends thought the movie was great. View with a light heart and take it for what it is. There are surprise appearances by actors you know Jon Voight, Kelsey Grammer, Trace Atkins (the country singer) and Robert Davi is excellent - he's an actor youv'e seen in many movies but just don't know his name. I recommend this movie highly not only for a laugh but for a conversation after viewing.
I never expected to see someone like Trace Adkins in a movie like this, but being one of his loyal fans, I absolutely adored this movie. I laughed almost all the way through it.
What a funny movie! It is great. If you were a little nauseated with Michael Moore, you will love this laugh on a character like Michael Moore who is trying to abolish 4th July, and gets visited by some patriotic ghosts. If you are a Michael Moore fan, this will make you laugh as well - it's like a good Saturday Night Live spoof on the guy. It would be so great to see more movies like this done so we can laugh instead of cry at certain pitiful political situations out there!
We only buy about one in two hundred movies we see and we thought this was a great movie and it is definately one for our library. We are telling everyone they have to see this one! Kelsey Grammar you've become one of my all-time-favorite actors after this one . . .
For the Liberals here decrying this film as boring and Conservatives blew their only shot at a movie, I would have to say the truth hurts and it's easier to rip the movie apart than look at it honestly. Takes less brain cells that way. It does well to point out inconsistencies that many, not all, Liberals hold dear. It does give you reason to think and consider some of their view points, particularly the healthcare in Cuba at the beginning of the movie. As for the actors, I didn't realize John Voigt and Kelsey Grammer were has beens. Seems Frasier was quite popular. Old and boring jokes and one liners? I suppose if you'd never seen a Zucker Brothers movie, this would be accurate, but one liners are their trade mark.
This is by far one of the worst movies I have ever seen.
A cast of has-beens and never-weres, an onslaught of lame jokes/puns about liberals all set to the theme of A Christmas Carol? Oh yeah, this was as awful as I though it would be. This is what happens when the conservatives get their wish a make their dream liberal-bashing extravaganza! It's tired, boring, and totally unclever. I was really hoping they'd pull one out and make a smart, sharp critique of Hollywood and the lefties that run it. Nope, I got what I expected and that's a bummer. Well gang, you had your chance. Now go back to your supporting roles in quality films written and directed by those pinko-commie liberals. And hey Voight and Hopper, it was those kind of flicks that got you Oscar noms in the first place, so stop biting the hand that feeds. Nice try GOP, but this thing stinks on ice...
