Reaching for TV sci-fi's final frontier, Andromeda both honors and rides in the wake of franchise Star Trek -- as evidenced by Gene Roddenberry's name above the title. The show follows the wandering Andromeda Ascendant, a colossal, hyper-advanced spaceship that is awakened, Rip Van Winkle-like, from a deep freeze only to discover that the Systems Commonwealth that commissioned it has long since gone belly-up. Once used for diplomatic and humanitarian missions, the ship (personified in hologram by Lexa Doig) and its strong-chinned captain, Dylan Hunt (Kevin Sorbo), now go where no one dares, throughout the universe, boldly attempting to rebuild the Commonwealth amid warring alien races. This collection of first-season episodes includes:
  • "Angel Dark, Demon Bright" -- Hunt is faced with a difficult decision when Andromeda slipstreams back in time -- days before the climactic battle of the Nietzschean Revolution where the Commonwealth was defeated and the Nietzschean Alliance was destroyed.
  • "The Ties That Blind" -- The con-artist brother of Beka (Lisa Ryder) unexpectedly shows up claiming to be a devout Wayist making the Andromeda a prime target for Restorian attack.
  • "The Banks of Lethe" -- Finally, after 300 years and a black hole keeping them apart, Hunt reunites with his true love, Sara (Sam Sorbo).
  • "A Rose in the Ashes" -- With their communication with the crew of the Eureka Maru completely cut off, Hunt and Rommie (Doig) are forced into exile on a prison planet and must befriend fellow inmates to attempt any escape.
  • All Great Neptune's Ocean" -- Tyr (Keith Hamilton Cobb) and Rommie are framed for the assassination of the Castalian president (Allan Morgan).
