Anne's secondary adventures concern her "bosom friend" Diana (Schuyler Grant) and her supposed enemy Gilbert Blythe (Jonathan Crombie). This production of "Anne of Green Gables" is a beautiful little masterpiece. It is, for me, a part of my childhood memories. I can vividly remember when this miniseries was first broadcast on PBS here in the United States, when I was a little girl. I was only about 5 years old- too young to have ever watched a film of this type before - and yet “Anne” somehow drew me in early on, and I sat entranced in front of the television screen for the entire story. I later read LM Montgomerty’s books and enjoyed them very much, but that was years after I had fallen in love with her characters because of this film and its sequel. I'm now 25 and this is still one of my favorite movies of all time. It is incredible in every way- from the acting and storyline to the hauntingly beautiful theme music. Young Megan Follows delivered an absolutely brilliant, perfect performane as Anne. She is one of the main reason I love the “Anne” films so much. She was complimented extremely well by the rest of the cast, especially Collen Dewhurst and Richard Farnsworth. The movie is also enjoyable to a broad audience. Over the years of watching and re-watching this miniseries in our family, my dad and brother have always enjoyed it as much as my mom and I. I think that's because it's not the least bit sappy. Its hilariousy sharp(and often dry) humor prevents it from seeming overly sentimental at all. Yet, it also tugs gently at the heartstrings and makes you cry. It’s a classic, and deserves to be more famous than it is.

This film is timeless! I enjoyed it immensely when I first saw it. I recently purchased it for my 10 year old granddaughter. She loved it and it provided some good learning conversations with her parents who watched it with her. I also saw this film used at the women's drug and alcohol rehab where I worked a number of years ago. Many of the women could relate to the early themes of abuse and feeling unwanted that existed in Anne's early years. This film will make you laugh and cry and cheer on the delightful Anne Shirley. It will probably also give you a yearning to visit beautiful Prince Edward Island.

I loved watching Anne of Green Gables with my children and now we watch them with my grandchildren. I bought it for all of my grandchildren. My daughter said it is the joy of her life to watch Anne with her daughters. (they are 5 and 7 years of age)

I saw this series for the first time in 6th grade English class (about 15 years ago) and loved every minute of it. Excellent script, acting performances, scenery, and directing. I literally wanted to live in Canada after watching this movie. One of my few favorite movies of all time. I shared this movie with my step mom and she literally watched the 1st movie (both parts) and the sequel on the edge of her seat & shared her experience with everyone at work the next day. I passed it along to one of my grandmothers who had never seen it and she watched the whol series twice before returning it. I highly recommend not only seeing this as well as the sequel, but owning them as well, movies just aren't made like this very often.

There have been many people I have convinced to watch this film (and its sequel) that were reluctant to watch it because they thought this was a girls' or a children's film. When they finally conceded to watch it, they were blown away. This film is classic storytelling with deep emotion, incredible passion, and breathtaking scenery. It should be required viewing for all literature students. Granted, the director Kevin Sullivan has embellished the story plot, since the books (outside of the first one) are lacking in some depth. But what he has done is remain faithful to the spirit of the story's characters, and created a masterpiece of storytelling genius. Throw away your preconceived notions and give this film, and its sequels, a watch and you will not be disappointed.

Anne of Green Gables has been my favorite movie since the first time I saw it. When I was young, I was exactly like the young Anne--melodramatic to the extreme. Her adventures still bring a remembering smile to my face. I would recommend this movie to anyone--men, women, and children alike.

This movie moved me so, I can hardly put it into words. I could not leave my couch. I have never seen a more beautifully photographed movie. It's a beautiful movie in a beautiful place with beautiful actors and a beautiful theme. I laughed and cried and rejoiced while watching this movie. There is something so pure and innocent about this movie. I wish they made more movies like this for our young people today. It took me back to a simplier time, I felt like I was actually there in that place and time. All the worries of our modern world didn't exist. It was so moving that I cried tears of joy. I felt like I was transported back to a time when life was simplier and innocent. All the actors were suberp and Anne was just a breath of fresh air. This movie made me think that somewhere in the world there was once a place where honesty, courage, innocense, integrity laughter and love once exisited and it made me feel warm all over. It made me feel the same way Little House on the Praire did. It transported me to a place and time which I wish still existed and gave me hope that my children might find a place and people that have the values embodied in this sweet movie. Simply magnificent.

I watched this movie with my daughter who is 10, and the only girl in the family. We watched it from begining to end, laughed, cried, and cheered together. I recommened this movie to everyone who needs to get away from everyday life.

it was a clean light romantic film of a young lady growing from adolescence to adulthood. She enjoyed her childhood though some of it was not rosy red. but in the end she could look back on it with fun memories.

Anne of Green Gables is a brilliant masterpeice. It is a heart-touching story. I have enjoyed it in the most extreme way. It tells all about hope, forgiveness, and truth. Anne is all about achieving her ambitions. Along the way she learns many new and interesting things. Her story his fantasticaly built to make anyone cry whether yoyu are a huge movie fan or not. I believe this movie will touch your's (and anyone you may watch it with's) life.

I absolutely adore Anne of Green Gables. It was my fortune to have had the Disney channel when I was younger so as to watch it along with the series, Avonlea. Anne Shirley's character especially, I see as a kindred spirit. Lucy Montgomery was an extremely talented writer and storyteller to have created such a marvelous story. Anne of Green Gables will always hold a special place in my heart and I intend to pass this wondrous story on to my children in the future.

When I was a child,I had a terrible ear ache.As soon as I started to watch Anne of Green Gables and so forth... My ear ache had went away. I loved to watch it then later on I started to buy the books. I still have them. Ahh! It was lovely to see the relationship between Anne and Gilbert blossom. I have gone to Blockbuster or Hollywood Video but there's nothing on their shelves with Anne of Green Gables,Anne of Avonlea,...Her best friend Diana was so warm and friendly. Sometimes you wish all the people you meet are as lovely and comforting as Anne's best friend.
