Another Woman

Overview

Woody Allen deviates momentarily from his comedic work to make the dramatic Another Woman. MGM has done nice work on this 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer. There are some instances of fading in the picture, as well as a few minor scratches, but overall this is a very nice looking print. All colors and black levels look very even and deftly rendered. Audio is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 (English, French, and Spanish) and works well with the film it compliments. Another Woman is a dialogue-driven film, and ...

Sealed in manufacturer's shrinkwrap~Fast shipping. Grad-school administrative head Marion Post (Gena Rowlands) is in the midst of writing a book. The walls are thin in the ... apartment she's taken for work purposes, and soon Marion begins listening to the sessions conducted by her neighbor, an analyst. One of the patients is Hope (Mia Farrow). As Hope prattles on, Marion begins flashing back to highlights (and lowlights) of her own marriage. Her musings are constantly interrupted by the memory of the man (Gene Hackman). Director Woody Allen's career-long indebtedness to Ingmar Bergman is underlined in Another Woman via Bergman's frequent cinematographer Sven Nykvist. Thank you for your consideration. Audio is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 (English, French, and Spanish) and works well with the film it compliments. Another Woman is a dialogue-driven film, and as such is not in need of an overly aggressive soundtrack. Dialogue, effects, and music are all clean of distortion or hiss. Also included on this disc are French and Spanish subtitles. Much like the other Woody Allen titles by MGM, Another Woman's only extra feature is a theatrical trailer for the movie. Perhaps someday Woody Allen (and MGM) will decide to record commentary tracks for his films; until then, fans are stuck with mostly bare-bone DVD editions of his work.
