Overview

Satisfy your appetite for both fast food and side-splitting laughs with Warner Bros.' release of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Vol. 1. Each episode is presented in the original, full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1, and the image looks as good as ever. With solid, vibrant colors and a solid transfer, the episodes will likely look better on this DVD than they did when originally broadcast on cable. The Dolby Digital Stereo soundtrack rings through clear and clean as well. Of course, what fans of the series will likely be most excited about with this release are the extra features. In addition to offering the original cut of "Rabbot, series creators Dave Willis and Matt Maiellaro give unconventional and entertaining commentary on three key episodes. After walking viewers through the original, un-aired episode "Rabbot, Willis and Maiellaro are joined by vocal contributors Dana Snyder and Carey Means for "Space Conflict From Beyond Pluto, and offer what may be one of the most unconventional and hilarious commentary introductions to date on "Mayhem of the Mooninites." If you're a fan of the show, this disc is without question a must-have. Not only does it offer a great presentation of 16 classic episodes, but it also provides a welcome glimpse into the demented minds that created this "Adult Swim" phenomenon.

The Aqua Teen Hunger Force debuted on an episode of Cartoon Network's Space Ghost Coast to Coast, presumably the only place where one would expect to find a cartoon crime-fighting trio comprising the contents of an afternoon snack. Their leader is Shake, a cranky, cynical beverage with a pink flex-straw driven into his frosty top. The chief problem solver in the bunch is Frylock, who resembles a sack of fast-food fries crossed with the Red Devil from the paint cans. Meatwad's name couldn't be more appropriately descriptive, and he's the good-natured softy in the bunch. The three live together near the New Jersey shore and pretty much split their time between battling Dr. Weird's bungling crime syndicate and annoying Carl, their loser next-door neighbor with the above-ground pool. The work of writers/creators Dave Willis and Matt Maiellaro, the program features voice work from Willis, C. Martin Croker, Mary Kraft, Carey Means, and Dana Snyder. The segments included here are:
