The third in director Sam Raimi's stylish, comic book-like horror trilogy that began with The Evil Dead (1982), this tongue-in-cheek sequel offers equal parts sword-and-sorcery-style action, gore, and comedy. Bruce Campbell returns as the one-armed Ash, now a supermarket employee ("Shop Smart...Shop S-Mart") who is transported by the powers of a mysterious book back in time with his Oldsmobile '88 to the 14th century medieval era. Armed only with a shotgun, his high school chemistry textbook, and a chainsaw that mounts where his missing appendage once resided, the square-jawed, brutally competent Ash quickly establishes himself as a besieged kingdom's best hope against an "army of darkness" currently plaguing the land. Since the skeleton warriors have been resurrected with the aid of the Necronomicon (the same tome that can send Ash back to his own time) he agrees to face the enemy in battle. Ash also finds romance of a sort along the way with a beautiful damsel in distress, Sheila (Embeth Davidtz), and contends with his own doppelganger after mangling an important incantation.

THE NEXT ONE OF YOU PRIMATES, EVEN TOUCHES ME....Bruce and Sam together have to be the funniest filmmakers. This movie is such a classic, no matter how many times I've see it, I can still watch it over and over again!
This is just a brilliant movie!!! Bruce Campbell is a brilliant actor and he shows it in this film!!! Im not begging you i am telling you, go buy this movie on dvd (and if not on DVD then on VHS) BECAUSE THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!
Army of darkness is a movie u can find under cult. It is a funny/ scary movie. The funniest thing is the skeletons with them playing flutes. Great movie i recomend this film
An absolutely brilliant film! I am a freshman in high-school and my friend and I made a deal that we should each see three classic movies. One of them on my list was 'Bruce Campbell vs Army of Darkness' and I was literally amazed! So idiotic and stupid, an absolute work of pure genius! Go see it, and you'll know exactly what I mean. This is the hilarious embodiment of the 80's in one classic film! At times I was laughing so hard I was nearly crying. When watching this movie, you can tell the people who made it were trying to be very serious, but then after the first ten... no, five minutes said 'Screw it'. You'll love it.
You need this for the simple fact that Raimi and Campbell do a commentary that is awesome. Death to the Deadites!
This movie was and always will be the ultimate in goodness. 'Nuff Said.
the movie was very good , it has alot of laughs but not that much horror like the evil dead , thats what pulled me off .
This version of The Army of Darkness is extended with never seen before footage. Great features and excellent audio commentary by Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi. A must buy for all Evil Dead fans. One negative comment - some scenes are of poor quality because it's new extended version had to be dug out of who-knows-where; also, the ending for this is the post ''dooms day'' ending, and the S-Mart ''Hail to the King Baby'' ending is not included. Over all - Get all the copies! Why not! It's well worth the buy!
I loved this movie. This movie is my second faviorite movie out there. If you havnt see this movie it is a must see! Rated: R
Funny, Action packed, horror movie ledgend all of these words and more discribe Army of Darkness. The third installment in the evil dead series this one takes the cake as the best.
The other version is better than this one. The director's cut ending is no ending at all. There is a reason why this was not the one released at first. Even the director's commentary on the other CD says this one sucks. ''You're goody little two shoes'' Get the other version, leave this one in the warehouse.
IT IS JUST A REALLY GOOD MOVIE!!! A must-buy for every movie-collector (or just anyone that has a DVD player and if not on DVD then VHS) Its just great
Not as good as Evil Dead 1 but Bruce is cool as hell. I liked the special fx.
