Overview

On the heels of his first foray into romantic comedy, versatile French filmmaker Luc Besson breaks new ground yet again with this computer-animated, family-friendly adaptation of his own children's book Arthur and the Minimoys. Arthur is a wide-eyed ten-year-old whose vivid imagination is fueled by the colorful bedtime stories his grandmother reads to him each night. His dreams are filled with images of African tribes and the remarkable inventions detailed in the enigmatic book that his grandfather left behind after mysteriously disappearing four years ago. Arthur and his family are in danger of losing their home to an unscrupulous real-estate developer, but if there is any truth to the tales of a treasure hidden deep beneath their garden and the tiny, fairy-like creatures that his grandmother so frequently sketches, there may still be hope of saving their home before it's too late. Now, with nothing to guide him but the clues left behind by his grandfather, Arthur will set out to find the mythical world of Seven Kingdoms, where the Minimoys are said to dwell, and ensure that his troubled family always has a place to call home. An imaginative children's fantasy in the vein of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan, Arthur and the Invisibles features the voices of David Bowie, Snoop Dogg, Madonna, Mia Farrow, and Freddie Highmore.

    more from this reviewer

    Pest Control.

Arthur and the Invisibles is a good movie even though it had some "nasty" eating habits displayed from time to time. The situations presented in the movie maybe a little scary for young viewers. In the DVD a treasure chest search is under way to save a people and it leads to a grand trip into a "small" world. *Action. *Adventure. *Awesome animation. *Entertainment good for youth and families.

    Um...okay...

I thought this looked pretty good...but after I saw it, I was like...uh, no. Absolutely not. The movie went by WAY TOO FAST. There were too many plotholes (I'm guessing this was due to the scenes they cut out of the U.S. version), and I think that the plot should have been played out more clearly. And what about the Evil M? We all hate him...BUT HE WAS HARDLY IN THE MOVIE. I did like the transition from live-action to 3-D Animation. And Freddie Highmore and Mia Farrow did an exceptional job. That...and I liked the dog, too. Anyway...if you really want to, rent it from the library or Blockbuster or something. Don't buy it. (You'll thank me later...)

BECAREFUL THAT YOU DON'T SQUASH HIM!!!

Freddie Highmore may be very small, he also has a big heart. Arthur and the Invisibles is the story of a boy named Arthur(played by Freddie Highmore) who is living with his grandmother after his grandfather disappears. One day a man shows up at the house and says that if they don't pay of all their debts in the next 48 hours. He would evict the family from their property. Of course, Arthur being of a very brave heart, goes to the land of the minimoys to find a treasure that would help pay off the contractor who will evict them from their house. But little did he know that while he was there he would end up falling in love with a princess. Now, I don't want to spoil anymore of the movie, but I will tell you that this a movie for all ages and that the whole family will enjoy. So, becareful where you step, because you might just end up stepping on little Arthur.

    I loved this movie!

This movie had the perfect blend of animation and live action that is just right for children and adults. The plot and visuals are intriguing for the kids and the humor is smart enough to keep the adults entertained throughout the film! See this - I believe you'll enjoy it!
