A fantastic film about loss, sin, nothingness, and redemption. Unflinching, yes, but all the more profound therefore.

This movie is all Harvey - all the way, every scene. A great acting job and it took a lot of nerve to totally disrobe in front of the cameras for such a long scene. You could just see the downward spiral of this lieutenant, thinking he was above it all.
Two things that did not make much sense to me were: where were his supervisors, and why didn't his family intervene at some point? He did not seem to be accountable to anyone at any time, even when there were a few scenes where he was part of an investigative team.
Maybe the producers of the movie just wanted to showcase Harvey's skills as an actor in a movie with very little plot. You knew he would not last on the streets with that behavior for long, so maybe in the end it was an attempt at suicide, to make it not look like a suicide.
Great performance, just not my kind of movie.

Look, I saw this movie many years ago and loved it. I finally bought the VHS movie the other day (rated R) but many of the original scenes were deleted to my disappointment. Are there any still available which are uncut? Please help! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
