Editorial Reviews

All Movie Guide - Craig Butler
Bald is very squarely aimed at college-age men, preferably those whose blood alcohol levels are above the legal limit or who would have a difficult time passing a random drug test; failing that, the lower the I.Q., the more likely the viewer is to enjoy the film. To say that the humor in Bald is sophomoric is to give it higher praise than it deserves. In terms of wit, this is the kind of film that even the dullest of men could write. In terms of originality, it's the kind of film that even the dullest of copy machines could write. And as for the plot, it's best just not to go in that direction at all. As far as credibility goes, don't hold your breath: this is, after all, a film that asks us to believe that a handful of college students could get filthy stinking beyond-your-wildest-dreams rich simply by putting up a new porn site on the internet. Having said all that, Bald does deserve a few points for its sympathetic treatment of the lead character's hair loss; it's played for laughs, but there is some genuine insight offered along the way. The cast, especially David Lengel and Jonathan Cherry, tries very hard; they're not able to overcome the material, but they truly give it their all and display an impressive level of commitment. And yes, the women and their amply bared bosoms are quite attractive.
