The enormity of HBO's Emmy-winning miniseries Band of Brothers was overshadowed in the weeks after September 11, 2001, when it completed its miniseries run. A little distance and a stunningly packaged five-DVD set help cast in new light this take on Stephen E. Ambrose's bestseller about Easy Company's incredible journey through World War II. The filmmaking is often visceral, yet the extended format allows the ensemble cast to grow, and the sacrifices of these heroic soldiers become palpable. The vivid drama doesn't let up in the extras here, as tales of struggle and redemption abound in "We Stand Alone Together: The Men of Easy Company" -- the best of the DVD's multiple documentaries. It's all heartrending stuff.

Spielberg and Hanks did an excellent job with this mini series. To my knowledge, the facts are pretty accurate. The cast was brilliant, and it was neat to see some of the cool stars that made cameos in this, such as Nathan Fillion and Colin Hanks for example. I had a feeling Colin Hanks would appear in it, since he is Tom Hanks son. He was good though. All the cast did marvelously. It was filmed very well too, and the action & excitement in it was for the most part pretty realistic. I own this on DVD, but I think eventually I am going to upgrade to the blue ray of this. I will still maybe keep it on DVD as well, for nostalgia, or I will just sell that to a friend of mine who is nowhere near blue ray yet. Hehe. On the real though, this is a truly epic, powerful, and humbling mini series to watch. It gives you a new perspective and respect for soldiers back in WW2. I look forward to the release of Spielberg & Hanks next mini series, The Pacific. I will probably go out and buy that without question, because I know it'll be good. Check this one out people, if you haven't already, and make sure you pickup The Pacific on November 2nd! Sensational stuff!

I waited for a few years until B&N had this series on sale for the best price anywhere. The show is one of the best I've ever watched. This and the Rome series are my two favorites! I could not be happier with this product, sounds and visuals are excellent in HD.
